Early Evening!
Not much done after my last posting as I fell asleep on the sofa for 3hrs:eek: not feeling too great today though and weather not helping.
DD & OH went and bought 3 gerbils after school:rolleyes: and have since made pizza dough, dumplings for the lamb stew and just making Mac cheese for DD's tea as she doesnt like stew much. OH has done some more decorating in DD's room and sorted a mates computer out, for which he was offered some money but chose to buy something for his computer which worked out more anyway and his mate paid....he's learning..LOL
Made a few calls that were needed. Had a letter from IR this morning about national insurance contributions and am still being billed, even though I stopped being self-eployed June 2005. I got a freephone number from saynoto0870 and sorted it out over the phone, as I had already sent 3 lettersTrying to sort a BT out for end of February and was offered 4.9% no fees on Plat Barclaycard-so will probably go with that. Had to sort out my DD's for gas and electric as they still werent showing on my bank account and OH went and posted the Sun holiday vouchers.
All washing dried and what needs ironing is in basket for SIL tomorrow. Have a few jobs that have been bugging me and need to be done OS, so will ask if she minds doing them.
Sky+Dont know whats happening, maybe we need to plug it into our phone line and it be updated as that hasnt been done for ages.
Glad the shepards pie turned out alright. Thursday is our shepards pie night..LOL, dont know why, but its just stuck. Sundays is a roast day and friday is normally something and HM chips. Have fish once a week-normally either in crumbs or HM fish pie.
Well, better go-DD needs a good kick up the behind as shes drooling in front of the TV ATM so have just turned it off. She is only alowed 1hr a day through the week as she would watch it 24/7 if allowed and would rather her read etc.
Take Care, Im off to have me lamb stew and dumplings:D

Back from work now, & I popped into a nearby charity shop after work & found 5 tops, all suitable for work, all 99p or 1.50, so I bought them all!
We're having HM steak & kidney pie tonight with veg left from yesterday & new pots that need using up, HM baked custard for sweet. Next lot of washing is on the radiators drying nicely, after I've eaten I'll make tomorrows lunces up & then Knit till bedtime.
I knitted 35 scarves in 7 weeks before Christmas, all that people ordered from me, I'm now trying to get ahead, knit one a week & have lot's done by next Christmas!

Afternoon All
Not much os today as had to go out for work and didnt get in till 2pm just gonna make kids tea then help them with homework.
Afterthat will have an evening in my office to catch up on the paperwork which I normaly do monday am.
Washing in washing machine which will go on rads in a minute - complely upstraight with the ironing at the moment which is really pleasing.
Ms_London - as you are going to the gym so much it could be that you are turning fat to muscle which weighs more - have you measured yourself? When I used to go to SW people used to moan that they lost less weight the weeks they exercised more.
Have a good evening.0 -
Evening all!
Am tired, had a busy (but productive) day so im pretty pleased. I came home to find the boyf out and had left the door open ('our' front door in a house of flats - idiot) and he is nowhere to be found, his guitars and car have gone. I think he muttered something yesterday about some gig he is involved in but I forgot until I arrived back home.
Got the housing benefit cheque today for the 3 months its taken to get sorted out, a grand total of £162. Id been on loads of websites like entitledto etc and they all came out at being a bit higher so im a bit confused. We are really going to have to tighten our belts significantly and boyf needs a serious talking to regarding the state of our finances, as I cant continue doing 6 day weeks to support him. Im also going to have to seriously consider looking for a new job with a higher pay now, even though I wanted to stick it out till the summer (for the annual bonus, the experience, and hoping for some support for the intended direction of my career) at least. Oh well!
Also have to pay the final council tax bill when I get paid (its a biggie too) but the £162 can go towards it, so it could be worse. I think this pay packet should be decent anyway as I did loads of overtime and other bits and bobs, so heres hoping. Ill be reducing the food budget this month too, as well as a few other things (threatening boyf with no broadband if no job might work!) and i'll get some extra cash from work for petrol when I go on my course (I usually profit as its a set amount per mile!).
Anyway, off to make dinner and clean the bathroom!

Well…..I’ve been cooped up around here all weekend quite busy though with the veggie patch thingy so popped into town today as I needed a few bits and pieces, milk, tea and so on. Spent a total of £5.18 on groceries. Parking was free – hooray, result,….wey hey….(spelling? hee hee)
Weather today in Kent is typical for January, overcast, grey, wind from the South West(ish), chilly and damp… the crows are flying low too…Old Style of course – hee hee.
Was advised a few days ago I had won a prize in one of the Christmas raffles (25p ticket) so went and picked it up… guess what ….it was …( Drum Roll…) …. a Slow Cooker Book… yes, really.. It’s fantastic. The pictures of the meals are just so good and mouth watering. The book is called “The Slow Cooker Recipe Book” by Catherine Atkinson” and contains over 150 recipes.
Finished choosing all the veggie seeds for the coming year so will make out the order later this evening. The £2 Coin Savers Club = £346.00 (£300.00 transferred to Savings a/c)

Jo - right - this may sound a bit rude and its not supposed to be!
But is your BF worth it? I mean, obviously there is always much more to a life than a post on a forum, but you have had several finance chats with him and he doesn't seem to be helping too much.
But you are destined to have a life too! And working 6 days a week is not the best way to go about it!
Please, please, please don't take it the wrong way - my OH is a pill*ck sometimes and I moan and groan, but I wouldn't have him any other way.
(And trying to dig myself out of a hole I have just jumped into, cos I am sticking my nose in!)0 -

I didnt take it the wrong way, dont worry! I sometimes do wonder if he is worth it, as he can be a pain in the a$$! I think that the problems are mostly caused by the very different ways we were raised, my parents were divorced and working class, hence I had a job at 15 to pay my way in the world and learned a lot through my own trial and error (i.e mistakes!) and he has wealthy parents, went to private school and everything was done for him so he never learned the importance of the things I hold very serious, like being able to stand on your own two feet and having finances in strict order.
As I got older and fell out with my mum (she knows best and im a stubborn cow and absolutley have to do things my way come hell or high water) I eventually ended up learning a few things that have come in handy, like money management, taking proper care of myself, laundry, cleaning, cooking etc, and now have extremely high standards, I like my flat show quality and I like my food without a side of salmonella.
The boyf quite happily sauntered to uni one day and lived off takeaways and stored the boxes on the floor along with the clean laundry his mum had kindly driven all the way from home to uni, and used his parents money to do it. I on the other hand rolled up with my student loan and carefully organised box of dried goods and ikea saucepans. When we happened to meet, I mistakenly and stupidly took on the role of mother (I have a habit of doing that, I must think its going to rub off on them!) and took care of him, with him getting progressively easier to deal with as time went on. We have been living together for 2 years in April, with him starting off as a drunkard of a musician, to today, a fairly clean guy who washes the dishes and cleans out the cat litter trays - so its not all bad!
Now that ive finished uni and started working, ive got less time to do the things I used to love doing at uni, like having time to properly cook and clean, and feel that that responsibility should be falling on boyf's shoulders a hell of a lot more now that I am busy earning the bread(maker) as it were. I guess its just a mismatch that will ease over time - hopefully!
We'll see what the year brings! (p.s sorry for long winded and pre-menstrual post!)

Dorry,
Just one word of warning on your chrome radiator airers if they have black feet on them. Either take them back or take the feet off.
As I learnt to my own dismay that the ones I bought from wilkinsons have black feet and they have left brown marks on my radiators. And I only had they fitted last August
And one has broken and I can't find the receipt to return them either.
Arghhhhhhhhhhhhh
