Of course current boyfriend might be "the one" but if he's "the one" he'll still be "the one" when daughter's 20+ with a slightly wider view of the world.

I happen to agree with this point of view and have said to her many times that if her boyfriend is the right one then he won't go anywhere and will still be around for years to come. I think the 'wedding' issue was really code for "help me...is this the right thing to do"

Just had a long txt conversation with her about decision making & life (ie, its her life and no-one can make choices for her. We can guide, but she has to live with it. No matter what she chooses we will always be there and will always love and support her no matter what). Think its had an effect, as I got a message saying thanks and that I'd made it easier for her to make her decisions.

Whatever they might be ...????

I'll just have to keep everything crossed that she's going to make the right decisions. However, if she does make a few bad ones then at least she knows now that we'll give her a hand putting things back together again.....although can't for the life of me work out why she might think we wouldn't. Except for the fact that her Dad & I have only been on the scene for a couple of years....maybe she's worried that he'd disappear if she did something he didn't agree with?

Who knows what goes on inside a 16 year olds head? Any answers gratefully received....

Holstar, I'm sure you've done better than you think in that exam

Still plodding on at work. Dull as ditchwater today.

Just eating some chocolate as a treat.

And I've registered for the Race for Life which I'll be doing in June.

Back from the laundrette to a gas bill :(. We're with British Gas and they've just sent me a bill of £113.44 (inc. VAT) and I've just logged into my electricity account and its a bill of £198.97 :eek: I think I'll go look at USwitch etc and see whether I could get the same amount of units for less money. They even want to put our DD for gas up by £8 a month! Time to find a new supplier if there is one cheaper ...

    holstar: hugs

It’s been a really productive os w/e for us: dd’s bday cake is made; house in the main has been bought back into (my) “acceptable” category of cleanliness (including windows downstairs); grocery shopping done; dd entertained at the local recreational lake/park (free). Even managed to tidy up some kitchen cupboards (long overdue) before I started baking. So, when the inlaws arrived yesterday pm the pork and pepper goulash was already in the oven, and everything was pretty much under control. “Portion control” of dinner was good, so I’ve managed to “rescue” an extra meal for the freezer.

So, what’s on the list today?

    Rest of “Lunchtime”:
    - Want to update Grocery Challenge/PMS Challenge amounts;
    - Got some short dated chipolatas on special yesterday: need to make then “smaller” ready for the party “hedgehog” and then freeze then.
    - Need to do a quick vac. downstairs, and polish up glass-topped coffee table.
    - “2 minute tidies” in each of the rooms

    After work:
    - Feed little ‘un
    - Entertain in-laws – it’s spag bol tonight, prepared by DH.
    - Ironing?

    Have a good day all……

Oh-er. I am worried sick. I have butterflies in my tummy.

Why? Cos I have made a new friend!

You may laugh - go on! The last "new" friend I made was back in 1998!!!!

I have plenty of friends, but haven't made a new one for ages.

We meet a few weeks ago and have arranged to go out this wednesday for more chats and stuff - but I actually have butterflies (I'm not that good at making new friends.! Lack of practise and so on. But when I do make friends, they are friends for life!)

I never felt this worried before - not even when I was dating! (all those millennia ago!!!)

Anyway - I feel that a friend is very OS. They are free entertainment!

At work at the moment - boss gone out - but that means I will have to delete the cookies off here before he gets back (he checks them you know! and the outbound call list!)

HOLstar, :grouphug: re your exam, you might have done better than you think. When I took my Grade 8 Singing exam, I thought I'd done really badly because my accompanist messed it up and put me off everything else. I ended up only 2 marks short of a distinction.

A loo roll tube is good for organising leads.Make one vertical cut down the tube and you can open it up and wrap it around all those pesky leads ;)

Great idea, would never have thought of that. Will have to wait till the end of this roll though, we normally give the rolls to the gerbil to play with and chew down to make its bed. and he got some last night

Thriftlady - I dont blame you for the BM thing. I do love HM bread but the kids wont eat it, its been about 3 months now and they still wont touch it. I also HATE the kneading blade with a passion as it leaves great big holes in the bases so you cant use all the loaf properly which must be moneu wasting not saving. I used to save allthe bits I couldnt use for breadcrumbs but my freezer is full of the damn things so now I chuck em to the birds. I wish I had borrowed one first rather than spend £60 on something I could do without.

The MATHLETTS wouldn't eat HM bread so I packed my BM away for a few months and bought only the cheapest nastiest bread which I served stale more often than not. The next time I put a HM loaf infront of them they fell on it like manner from heaven and havn't stopped eating it. "OHHHH Your bread is soooo much nicer than that grotty stuff from Tesco" they coo. (I turn away so they don't see my sly smile and disguise my evil laugh into a bit of a cough)
