Yes,Kiwichick,it was the hole in the loaf I hated too. Also you can only make one loaf at a time,I like to mass produce whenever poss.If you're making bread by hand it doesn't take any more time or effort to make 3 loaves than 1.If you're making rolls or pizza dough in the BM you've still got to shape the dough by hand so why not do the whole process by hand?
I had a Prima BM,but the I found the loaf stuck in the canister and had to get 2 replacements before I finally lost patience and gave the thing away.
Still,I can see how they'd be useful if you work all day.0 -
Hi
SIL not coming, not too well. Going to come tomorrow instead:D
Stew in SC cooking. Clothes are now on airer as the weather isnt too good outside. Kitchen cleaned down and floor swepts. DD has done her room. Ive had a bath and gave the bathroom a quick lick whilst in there. Beds aired and made.
OH has taken DD to school and is doing some decorating for a couple of hrs when he gets back. BM will be going on later for pizza dough too.

Problem is I think mother has already suggested that it would be fine with her. Her Dad and I are the only influences left that can hopefully get her to see sense. However, we strongly suspect that there's a reason behind the desire...firstly she doesn't seem to get shown much love at home so we wonder if she's trying to fill a gap. Secondly she use to go to church (mormon) which says that all people should get married and have kids. She's not that interested in the church now, but it was drilled into her from a young age that she should get married as soon as possible after she becomes 16 years of age. One of her boyfriends (religious one) split up with her because his parents found out that she was under 16 and so couldn't get married to him.
Fortunately she does respect her father and he is strongly against it (we've been battling for some time). We have told her that she can come and stay with us, but she won't because she doesn't want to leave her friends and her boyfriend. We however, think it would be good for her to start again. Not a decision we can make though...it has to be her.
Her half sister knows that a wedding doesn't necessarily mean anything as her dad (my OH) and her mum divorced when she was around 7 years old. Getting that into her head....that it has to be the right person, at the right time....is a bit like getting blood out of a stone.
We'll get there in the end. Half the problem is that she doesn't know what to do or where to go.....and she is desperate to leave home, but not to leave her friends. One escape that she already knows about due to her old church is marriage. Crunch will come this weekend as we are meeting the boyfriend. OH is going to have a very stern and frank discussion with them both. My duties will probably involve disappearing with the younger one.Baby Year 1: Oh dear...on the move

Morning all
Bad night for me - had raging indigestion at 2.40am, was still awake at 5.45 and typically had just nodded off when the alarm went off at 6am!!! Grrrrrrr.
Busy day work wise today - 2 kiddies dropped off at 7.30, they've all been dropped to school with my DD's and the next lot arrive in 10 mins, off for a painting session with another couple of childminders, the adult company is much needed!
Brekkie - toast and cereal
Lunch - Left over Toad in the hole for DD's (warm in their flasks with gravey)
Dinner - Not quite sure - probably quiche from the freezer...depends how much time I get later.
Good luck to those with exams today."Start every day off with a smile and get it over with" - W. C. Field.0 -
Good Morning Chums,

Youngest sprog picking me up this morning as she has to go to the dentists, so I get to play with my smallest grandson 20 months and keep him amused whilst Mum is in the chair.Got some advantages being a Granny. Then I must get stuck into some college work as I haven't done last weeks homework yet and tomorrow is looming.
Just off to have my tea, toast and honey for breakfast. It might get my motor going

Morning everyone
I read this thread every morning as I am drying my hair for work, so today I thought that I would join in.
I am not very OS but I am trying to be more so. I now use vinegar for my fabric conditioner and I am slowly using up all of the cleaning products that I have and converting to vinegar! I have always used a clothes airer but I also have a TD! Yesterday I made a huge pot of ragu which will be frozen in individual portions for when we want it. I also made home made lasagne friday but that has all been eaten! I do need to cut down on our food bill though, there is only the two of us and we spend on average £80 a week
So I am at work, as usual!
B: bran flakes
L: probably more cereal! and fruit
D:gym night, so maybe beans on toast or pasta
Have a good day everyone0 -

Morning everyone
Im a newbie here!
I have just dropped DD off at school and have lots of little jobs to do. WM is on and the other stuff drying. DW loaded and running.
Need to tidy the kitchen up next and put the mountain of clean clothes away that are breeding all over the house!
I have set myself a small challenge this week of not doing any substantial food shopping but using up the contents of the freezer. Tonight for tea is Spaghetti with meatballs in tomato sauce.
Will have to buy some bits and pieces though. I am a childminder and need to get the healthy snacks in for the little ones.
Hope you all have a great day

Newbies again! Welcome!
Been up for ages and been to Tesco already. I was there for 8ish - avoids traffic and queues cos I hate them, but there is no cheapie stuff on the shelves at that time!
I cannot decide whether to have Chix Curry for tea or Chix tortillas (can you tell I have Chicken defrosting!) Would prefer to have tortillas, but i have some Nan breads that need using up.
My step mums birthday tomorrw - and I get to use my birthday cupboard for the first time ever! SHe has 3 pressies and cost me less than £5 in total!
Right. I haven't even had a coffee yet. WM is on and TD so I am going to sit down and watch cbeebies with the little ones and a big coffee, then go to work (that job bores me)
Have a nice day all!
Glad PP slept better last night, and good luck with exams!0 -
Morning OS-ers :hello:
Didn't get too much sleep last night because it got to about 11:30pm and I suddenly had an overwhelming urge to do some sorting out around the house! (My room, which is my main living area as I'm a lodger, still looks like a bomb site but every day it's improving. My strategy of baby-steps seems to be working nicely.) So I matched all my shoes with their boxes (shoes were previously strewn all over the floor, with the boxes in a mountain in one corner), boxed them all up and slotted them all in around each other in my wardrobe. I put away a pile of clean washing, threw out half a bagful of junk including my knackered old handbag which I FINALLY found a replacement for on Friday, and did a bunch of other things - didn't get to bed until nearly 2am
Beef casserole went down a storm with housemate last night, and there's enough left over for me to reheat for tonight's dinner. His rice pud turned out lovely too
Just got into work half an hour ago, and boss has only just got in, for some reason. I've got LOADS to do so I probably won't be back on here until lunchtime or maybe even this evening. MUST NOT SPEND ALL EVENING ON MSE though as I have tomorrow's job interview to prepare for. Have already primed my closest colleague to back me up on the "doctor's appointment" story. Even though I've already been assured that my current job will improve really soon, I really hope I get this new one as I've been keen on working there for ages (I know two people plus a friend of a friend who work there and they all love it).
Best (male) friend gets back tomorrow from three weeks in Australia :j :j :j We work together and will have loads of urgent admin to catch up on as soon as he's back though
SnowyOwl - I hope your exam goes really well!
rchddap1 - I really feel for you - particularly when you think your almost-stepdaughter's reasoning is partly religiously motivated, so you have to be extra sensitive in your approach. Hope it goes OK :grouphug:
Have just told my boss the "doctor's appointment" storyOperation Get in Shape
