Afternoon folks,
Not much OS (or non-OS come to that!) happening in this household today!
We went to see Harry Potter last night whilst my ma babysat, a real treat for us ... and even better she's said she can babysit next week so that we can go and see Narnia! Most happy with this as my ma lives 60 miles away.
This week we have managed not to fritter so much and I have done our budget for the month, so I shall have to see how we get on! Pay day is Thursday!
This afternoon I think I shall have to make some biccies as we are out of them (they seem to evaporate when DH discovers them!), contemplating making some pizza dough in the BM, that way I can freeze them. Just need to figure out how to successfully stack the bases without them sticking?! Any ideas?
DD is crayoning.
DH is out clearing a bit of land, hopefully big enough for him to build me a small lean-to greenhouse! ... but each time I look out of the window, I see that he's been distracted by a large pile of wood - he's obsessed by log chopping! Don't ask - apparently it's a man thing!
Right, time to wonder about dinner.
B - missed that, had a lie-in, bliss!
L - Tomato/basil sausage sarnies, yum.
D - um, no idea! DD will be having left over rhubarb/apple crumble for pud.
Tonight, is fun night (Not!) - Income Tax return for DH needs completing and other business finances need to be done. Oh my fun filled evening! Can't wait!
Finally, need to think of some kind of meal-planner with the food we have in the cupboard, as we have very little fresh veg until Wednesday when it is market day. The good news is that the veg I bought last Wednesday has all been eaten, with no wastage, including the celeriac and savoy cabbage!
Happy days!!GC - March 2024 -0 -
hi Zed
i can agree that log chopping is deffinately a man thing.
i'd chop things all day if i had chance.
it is either the chopping or the shiney sharp things

Well,I'm about to go up for my customary Sunday soak in the bath with a good cookbookThere's a great big free-range chicken sizzling away in the oven and smelling gorgeous-someone (JW,I think, sorry if I got this wrong) ,said the other day that the smell of home cooking was like a drug, too true
There's an apple crumble already made, yum.

oh and did all my ironing this morning so well pleased with myself!November NSD's - 70 -
It's nearly 5pm & finally I get to put my feet up. As usual on a Sunday, I've cooked a full sunday roast & to save on fuel have filled the oven to capacity. So far I've cooked steak & kidney pie, & 5 apple & cherry pies (some one gave me loads of apples last year, which I turned into puree & froze), beef casserole & carbonara sauce. At least I have a head start on next week. All my washing is on the airer & most of it's dry. After a few minutes on here with a cuppa I going to make sandwiches for tomorrow. The mind is like a parachute, it works best when open0

Holstar's signature made me laugh in an ironic, fellow-victim sort of way:
I hate exams! 16th - 25th January, 5 exams, not enough revision, too much time on MSE....I know who to blame when I have to re-sit!
I too have the exam blues Holstar - have one tomorrow morning at 9.30 am...just like you. Fortunately I only (only!) have two exams in total, the other one is on Wednesday, but I will probably have to go to work in between. I am absolutely nowhere near ready for Wednesday. Please everyone send guilty vibes to my boss so that she'll stop umming and arring about my having Tuesday off...otherwise I'll be up all night long (literally) on Monday to study...then sit at work wrecked on Tuesday just because she wants me there.
Graham, nice to see you here! Is that Queensbury in NW London you're from? If yes, then we used to be neighbours yonks ago as I lived in Kingsbury for seven years. Now living in Ireland though which is v.different indeed! Good luck with your studies too. Don't know about you but it is hard to get study done on top of a job, so good for you that you have the motivation.
Old Style can go jump today though I have done the absolute minimum - the bed is made but not changed, if I don't look at the floors then I won't see that they need cleaning, breakie was porridge, lunch was biscuits, chocolate and coffee (all highly important when studying). Dinner will be some turkey slices chucked into a pot with some onion, celery and whatever I find in the cupboard with pasta or rice. DW will do the dishes on my behalf. I did some washing on Thursday, and I have enough clean things until Wednesday when I can please myself without having to feel guilty about not doing study. Oh I am obsessed about study...sorry!
Hope everyone is well...am impressed everyone gets so much done.
Has anybody seen Queenie lately? I hope she comes back soon.
Cheerio for now everyone!

Roast chicken with stuffing, roast tatties, HM yorkies, carrots, roast parsnips, peas and gravy:D i love sundays....we had a roast beef full dinner yesterday at my sisters...nevermind..LOL. DD's mate ate it all and said it was delish and she said to dd "your mums wicked!".....so maybe I'll be one of the "popular" mums now:cool:
2nd washload was dried outside on line as there was a lovely breeze. OH bought in and said "shall I stick it in the TD as its still abit damp?".....well, you can imagine what I said to that:eek: he decided it might be best to take upstairs and put on airer.....dont know whyLOL.
Will call back in later....gotta go...see ya

Hello everyone,
Late posting today, ive had my sister and her family here for the weekend, been lovely to see and have them here, but i dont get anything done!!!! Mind you, thats nice as well!!!! She looked after DS and DD whilst i was at my first aid course yesterday, which ended at lunch time, instead of 4 because there was only 6 of us in the class, so that was very nice, but wont be happening again next week as its the theory week, but never mind, it has to be done!!!
Apart from doing a lovely roast chicken for lunch (and putting the dishwasher on!) ive done nothing today, but it is nice to do that sometimes. Will put the WM on later, but thats it for today, will mean i have loads to do tomorrow, but i think i would rather wait!!!
Take care
