All this talk of roast dinners has made me want one too. I have a confession to make- I have never before cooked a roast chicken, only chicken breasts. I can be a bit squeamish and am scared it will be yukky if I have to clean out the inside or anything. A wimp I know!! Maybe I will try to brave it anyway.
Honestly, sarah there's nothing yuckyOven ready chickens never seem to have giblets or anything in them anymore.Just cut a lemon in half, put half inside, squeeze the other half over chicken, drizzle with olive oil or rub some butter over breast, salt and pepper.Roast in a hot oven for 20 mins per lb + 30 mins.
You must have a go-best meal in the world and lovely leftovers.0 -
Got a busy day ahead of me (groan)
Woken by the cats again this morning at 8am trying to get me up for their food (awww) then Mother call - reminding me to pick her up from the play center with brother and sister in tow ~ I totally forgot- So Must do this later
Got to go to the tip later to get rid of the junk and cardboard mounting in the back garden to make the area alittle more pleasing since spring is coming
Must make a loaf today and a pizza later for dinner - I got a list for tea as I think it was Chicken Curry - but its downstairs at the moment (Chicken defrosting). Brekkie was egg on toast (yum)
Must put the dining chairs in the loft out of the way (to be used for xmas or large sit downs) as I am now using the table in the spare bedroom as a PC desk (just the right size as well) so I got a new one coming from MFI in 2 weeks time(Thanks Tescos BiG promo :rotfl: )

Morning all. It's not turning out to be a good day in the moggins household! Kids being obstructive. DD2 turning the living room into an art studio and I'm trying to keep them both quiet because DH is sleeping after his shift last night.
At least tea is prepared (Shepherds Pie), I just have to find something to occupy DD2 whilst I get the uniforms ironed as I don't want to be running round like a headless chicken this evening. I can't remember the last time I had some 'me' time
I also have to call in an electrician as 2 of the sockets in DS's new room aren't working and I can't find out why and the new socket and light fitting need to go up and I can't figure out the wiring for love nor money, there's about 8 different wires going in and out and none of them are colours I recogniseOrganised people are just too lazy to look for things

I literally just woke up. Im so tired! Ive got loads to do today too so Id better get on with it. Ive got to run out and get jam sugar, make jam, make bread, iron work stuff, do a load of laundry, make a roast, tinker with one of the cars (engine trouble and general maintenance, with a good clean) and hoover the flat. The worst is the knowledge that ive got to go back to work tomorrow as I simply cant be bothered, but at least I get paid on friday so I can at least get financially organised and then the week after im on a training course anyway so that will be a short week. I think its just the nightmare of getting up so early in the dark to battle with getting a seat on a bus, the travel is easily the worst part of the day.
Anyway, have finished my tea so shall pop out for the sugar and will then crack on!
Hope you all have a good day!

Morning Everyone
Got hardly anything done yesterday in the end. OH decided that he wasnt feeling well and took himself back to bed. DD wasnt in the mood to amuse herself so I ended up playing with her for the majority of the day. Managed to go to Tesco later on and there were bargins galore, so I've ended up spending £40.42 on shopping on my credit card should have been £93 though so I'm quite pleased :j , will take it out of next months grocery money when the bill comes in as I'd intended to do a big stock up at the begining of Feb anyway so its abit early, wont use any of it anyway as its all stock cupboard things and I've got all my meals planned until the end of the month. The only thing I got to use up was some organic double cream which I turned into butter last night, really pleased with it and DD had it on toast this morning and loved it.
Been to mass this morning and going out to the local wackywarehouse for lunch with the in-laws, does anybody know if there is any food suitable for a 1 year old that doesnt get fed rubbish (dispite in-laws best efforts to give her crisp and chocolate  ). If not she will proberbly share my roast dinner. Tea will be turkey soup and HM bread. I've just remembered that today it will be 3 weeks since DD has had any baby food from a jar I'm really pleased with myselfand her appitite seems to have increased not sure if thats my imagination though.
Right off to make some bread then grab a shower before we go out

Afternoon all :hello:
Hope you are all well today ?
Was up at 730am to put Mr Smokey out to work - he had to run DSS home as he stayed last night as well - fed cats and as I wasn't feeling well went back to bed - been up for half an hour now
Made a load of biscuits yesterday - yummy - put some in with Mr Smokey's lunch today.
B - just had toast and egg
L - as above
D - gammon joint(reduced before Christmas) - HM coleslaw (with cabbage bought on 31/12 - normally I would have thrown this out by now) and potato rosti which have been in freezer for a while.
Will attempt to tackle the ironing which is in the cupboard - usually only iron what we need but will make effort today whilst watching UK TV food in the bedroom.
got meals sorted for the week - will have lunch at work Tues/Wed as I am on forklift course .
will do storecupboard and freezer inventory on Wed night as Mr Smokey gets paid on Thurs and I will do my big shop then. Will work out GCT then
Have a lovely day all
Love

I love weekends. I feel so industrious. Jam is in the BM, everything is ready for a loaf to go on, washing is whirring away, UKTV Food is on TV and im kicking back and relaxing with a lovely cafatiere of coffee in front of me. Ive done everything except the chicken dinner and the ironing, which I shall do after the two fat ladies have finished their lovely looking, err, pastry.
Anyway, I think I shall recline on the sofa until the jam finishes!

hello,
I've been reading OS for lots of months now but have never posted before.
because of this board i bought a slow cooker last week and my beef and ale is bubbling away as i type. smells lovely.
i have gone a bit non os this weekend - my work (think of a big greeting card company) is paying for me to go college to be an accountant (i'm 34 so i should be finished before i'm 40) so i spent all yesterday in a class room and then had to go for a pint after. so i'm spending today aiting for my tea to be ready.
Cheers
