PP I notice that you cannot have milk products. I suggest making almond milk as this will supply lots of calories as well as calcium.
225g (8oz) Ground almonds
450ml (16 floz) Boiling water
Combine almonds and water.
Steep for 5-10 minutes, stirring occasionally.
Sieve the mixture or use a blender until all of the ground almonds are combined.
Produces: 450ml (16 floz) almond milk.
To make Walnut Milk simply substitute walnuts for almonds0 -

Boo, back to work tomorrow!
Having a massive clean up today, including a pile of ironing. Bed is already stripped & in the wash (stops me getting back into it!), DW is ready to go on & I have a few bits to go in the TD to be de-creased (dried on the airer, but a quick whizz in the TD saves ironing them).
I have a question:
My shower is draining slowly, so the plug hole must need unblocking. I presumed vinegar would be involved, so checked the cleaning index. It said use bicarb & vinegar then flush with hot water. Do I mix the bicarb & vinegar first then pour down, or do I put a couple of teaspoons of bicarb down the plug hole, then pour in a bit of vinegar? Does it matter? Anyone with any experience of this out there?
Having a phone nightmare too, it won't charge, so now have 2 flat batteries. It's a work phone, so someone else can sort it out for me tomorrow.0 -
Morning all,
It's my last day of holiday too, wish I didn't have to go back. Today we have to deliver the rest of my leaflets for my p/t business. Hopefully it won't rain and it will be fairly pain-free.
Yesterday I hoovered downstairs, and just need to do upstairs. I cleaned bathroom yesterday, inc washing bathmats and shower curtain. Bought some cushions for the living room sofas, they really do finish it off and make the room more homely.
Kitchen is all clean, I need to go through freezer to see what is left for meals, and prob get some healthy food from Tesco as my diet has started to get rid of the pounds I gained in December. I'm quite looking forward to getting a few nutrients TBH, my diet has been appaling during Dec and I can really feel the negative effects of it my body.
Have a good day all, Sarah.xYesterday is today's memories, tomorrow is today's dreams0 -
Good morning all,
I can't wait to get back to normality with all the festive excesses behind - I am feeling really despondent this morning about all the waste (mine included!) that this season brings.
Out of inertia, depression and lack of energy to fight back, I have thrown any OS and MS principles to the wind and made a huge hole in the credit card. With my mother here I felt I had to get lots more than I would get anyway. Then there were the kids' presents, then the food, mountains of it and a lot of it going wasted, then the packaging (tearing-frenzy included).
My husband bought me a beautiful present, gold and ebony earrings, really lovely hand-crafted, but when I discovered how much he paid for them I could not stop crying (am I nuts?).
Overall I am feeling very depressed and I think that until my mother leaves on 10th January to go back to Italy I shall not be able to 'put my house in order' again.
I can't even think of doing anything minimally OS at the moment because I just don't have the energy to fight the 'forces of Mammon' (the rest of my family).
Then only really OS thing that has happened during these dreadful holidays was that my OS giant crocheted Granny Square (meant to become a blanket eventually) has grown a lot, since I have had no energy to go out of the house and have sat with my eyes down crocheting all evening every evening.
Even looking back on my New Year party I now cringe, with all that alcohol and meat and fish I provided - I am vegetarian so this is particularly heavy on my conscience especially since I have eaten some of the salmon myself. I have a lot of booze still unopened in the garden and I cannot even take it back to Sainsburys because it has been rained on and the boxes of beer and wine labels are a bit ruined.
I think I shall open another thread for people who, like me, feel they have experienced a season of excesses and want to go back to a nice, clean, lean and healthy OS lifestyle, otherwise I will be here ranting for hours and the mods will tell me off (quite rightly so too!).
Love to all

Boooo - Im also back at work tomorrow!
Got loads done yesterday and the flat is pretty much clean, although I didnt do the ironing so thats a task for this afternoon. Washing machine is on and there is only two loads to go before everything is done! Someone is picking up a printer I put on freecycle this morning too, and I want to have a bit of a pamper day, so im thinking long bath and fully exfoliate, face mask, deep condition hair, wax legs, attack dry feet with amazing foot stuff bought from boots, and then cut the boyfs hair as he is whingeing too.
Ive also got to change the bed sheets so I shall do that shortly. Im thinking about editing the budget too so I can start saving for a holiday, maybe just a long weekend somewhere but still, its getting away! Ill have a look at the kind of deals available shortly and figure out if ££ will stretch over the next couple of months. I also need to inventory the cupboards and freezer to figure out a meal planner for january.
HM chicken curry for dinner this evening, and chicken stock ready prepeared for making a HM soup (it doesnt look very nice!!)

Poor you, sounds like you've been having a rough time of it. 8 days to go till Mother leaves, and then you can begin to get things back to normal again. This is just a temporary period of excesses and non OS, so try not to be too hard on yourself. You'll be back to OS before you know it.
Take care, sarah.xYesterday is today's memories, tomorrow is today's dreams0 -

Lucky old me doesn't have to go back to work this year as I have now retired!! I have stopped working earlier than I perhaps should have but I been a bit ill over that last 2-3 months which is why my visits here have been curtailed as the tratment has made me feel pretty groggy. Slowly getting there, hopefully.
I have got gallons of stock simmering away on the stove ready to make lots of soup for the cold days ahead. Beds changed. 3 loads of washing done. At the moment it is a nice, bright sunny day. No wind though, so I expect the washing will just hang there damply! At least it smells good after being outside even if only for a short time.
Happy New Year to one and all. I'm glad to see the back of 2005 - this one's got to be better!0
