Afternoon all
Last night was fun - good company and good food..... Managed to save half the vat of chilli for the freezer....more free dinners next week! We ended up about 4 bottles of wine, a bottle of southern comfort and a bottle of champagne better off to as they didn't want to take it all home, that with the 2 boxes of chocs...we're laughing!
Chocs have gone away in the cupboard as they've got long use by dates on - mothers day sorted!
No-one surfaced till after 10am so a late breakfast of toast and lidl's jams (which went down very well) Everyone left at 1pm so a frantic tidy up and sort out. DD's been shut in their rooms watching telly, DH is falling asleep on the sofa and I've just got all my accounts up to date.
Joint of beef in the SC, will do roasties etc in a bit to go with it.
Christmas tree will come down tomorrow - I've been taking bits down when I've past them - all in a heap now awaiting boxes from the loft. Tree is normally down by now but I've not felt the need this year - will quite miss it I think.
Looking very much forward to this year....it's going to be a good one - I can just feel it.
Hope you've all had a great day."Start every day off with a smile and get it over with" - W. C. Field.0 -
VS, yes my son has a carer, well they are foster carers. they have him one day a month usually a saturday to give me a rest and/or so i can do normal things with the other 3 children, as im a single parent i find that quite difficult and the carers are lovely!
my son has severe autism, he is almost 5.
my dss 1 & 2 have been assessed for as, and are both mathamatically gifted which in itself brings its own demands xNovember NSD's - 70 -

Big thanks to all who entered into the spirit of the games and quizz last night, it was great fun trying to decypher Snowy's posts and beat TM to the answers
To MATH, don't give up the day job and take up as a budding artist
E'lass aka NYgames
Thanks a lot E'lass.
Thing is, am I right in thinking MATH used to be a graphic designer ?
And MATH - before you say art.com has nothing to do with what you did, I know. Take another look at my efforts. Laughable really, esp when you consider I got an A in art O level and my dad was a professional artist (amongst other things)0 -
Happy new year to you all and welcome to Jaybee and Charity Girl
Wasn't feeling too well last night so we just had a quiet night in and was in bed by 1am. Feeling a bit better today - had a good lie in then went for a trip out to a nature reserve this afternoon - had a lovely walk and the drive is nice along country roads too - has helped to clear my head and means we didn't spend any money today
Just been catching up online, and watching The Naked Chef on UKTV Food
Going to make a chicken and pasta bake now and have a load of washing ready in the machine - just need to get yesterdays two of the airer and do another load of washing as we made our trousers muddy earlier on our walk and we havne't caught up yet from being away.
Right really must get on but it's so warm under my fleecy blanket on the setteeat least there's no work tomorrow :j

Hi Everyone,
Hope you all had a good start to the New Year. I've been pottering around the house trying to sort out what food to do for my "Out-laws" visit tomorrow. Decided on a " use up whats in the fridge day". OH says that it makes a change from a "use up whats in the freezer day" . So I was busy making HM potato salad, pasta and tuna salad, egg mayonaise, colslaw, onion rings in vinegar and fresh salad. Also made some chocolate chip brownies to use up all the choc in the house. OH has had some already. Said it was a good hangover cure from his night out last night _party_ .
Also need to finish tidying up house, but did manage to put some of OH stuff on ebay. The MSE lifestyle must be rubbing off on him! Hope you all enjoy the rest of your day.

Evening friends...... I have spent the afternoon sourcing a trip to Paris for our wedding anniversary, via eurostar, the trip itself was very reasonable but the train fare to London to catch eurostar was horrendous so we have decided to travel to Ashford by car and leave it there, it would have cost us almost as much for the train as the eurostar and hotel for 3 nights in Paris......the parking in Ashford is £27 which is half one train fare to London......our car is fairly economical, ok it means setting off about 8am to catch a train at lunchtime, but we will be in our hotel in Paris in just over 2 hours......the hotel is just across the road from Gard de Nord where the train terminates........I will book it after 12th January so it will appear on my CC in March, so I get 2 extra months interest on my savings account.....
Roast pork for supper with apple, blackberry and gooseberries crumble for sweet, nothing else done today, I cleaned up yesterday and will not put any washing on until tomorrow, my grand mother was against washing on new years day...... and I never have done......
We did not go to bed until after 12 last night, knowing that there were going to be fireworks, put the light out just after 1am, woke about 9.10 so not too bad.....
I hope that you all have a happy new year and all your dreams come true....

Happy New Year to all of you!
Severely wasted from a very nice party last night (at my home, very NON MS, spent a fortune and made a large hole in the plastic...) so paying the price today.
Also my mother is driving me up the wall with her running commentary and 'advice' so I am trying to conserve energy and sanity by doing as little as I can.
Eating the mountains of leftovers from last night, probably will have no need to cook for the next two or three days!
Best wishes for a lovely new year to everybody!!!!!!
CaterinaFinally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).0 -
