Hello everyone
Fancy thinking 12 year old towels are old towels?!
Mind you, my best "towels" for cleaning are the white 18 inch square ones, great for cleaning bathrooms, shower cubicles and for wiping condensation off windows in the morning. These "towels" are 23 years old, & were used for their original purpose for my 3 babies. After that, those in the worst condition got sent to somewhere in the Scottish islands where there was an oil spill and they needed old towels & nappies to clean up seabirds. The rest are still doing sterling duty as cleaning cloths here. I don't know what the neighbours think when they are on the washing line, though!
I'm glad I didn't use disposable nappies - they don't recycle half so well as the real thing!0 -
Hello!! Come on then - who turned the leccy off?? I know this is OS, but pulling the power just aint funny!! It can do strange things to a girl you know, not being able to get her 10 minutely MSE fix! I ended up doing some work!!!
Anyway - glad we're back, hope you all managed to be far more sensible than me and avoided the dreaded W word (YUK!!!)
Busy trying hard to get myself going this afternoon - failing miserably!!
See you later.I'd rather be a could-be if I cannot be an are; because a could-be is a maybe who is reaching for a star. I'd rather be a has-been than a might-have-been, by far; for a might have-been has never been, but a has was once an are – Milton Berle0 -
Have just made my own tortillas and "they were eaten!"
May have got the quantities wrong as they seemed very small but will double up on the ingredients next time and see how I get on.
Just about to go to Slimming World and not looking forward to it."This site is addictive!"
Wooligan 2 squares for smoky - 3 squares for HTA
Preemie hats - 2.0 -
every time i double quantities i end up with the same amount of product. i don't know how i do it, although they probably end up thicker.0

Good evening folks.
Had a very lazy day today. Not at work and not much needing doing.
Had a half bag of potatoes that needed using up so made up some mash for the freezer.
Shopping list done for the shopping tomorrow. Always go on a Friday and always aim for one visit only to the shops per week. Freezer fairly full and still veggies left from last week so at the moment shopping list total is only about £12. But if there is any good BOGOF's I will get them too. Am very careful tho' and only get stuff that I know I will use.
Dinner tonight was macaroni cheese (given to me last night by my mum), sausages, sweetcorn and peas. Macaroni was great - think it was the combination of someone else making it and I always think a lot of food tastes better on day 2!
Bye for now.0 -

Queenie I hope the chocolate cake turns out OK, let us know!
The Chocolate and Beetroot Cake recipe posted yesterday by BargainAholic turned out to be Chocolate and Beetroot Muffins and thank you, yes they turned out DeeeeeeeLISH!!! Didn't quite have enough muffin cases so had to turn some of the mix into bun tins ... turned out quite handy really as the boys were dead keen to try them after school. They are very rich for my taste, but they really are delightfulThe bigger one's, the real muffins will be used for the boys packed lunch tomorrow and they are going to give one to their friends too and see if any of them can guess the *secret* ingredient
Update on the bread: Despite the faux pas over the measurements, I must have done something right because that also turned out ok after adding a few handfuls of flour. (phew! Saved me having to turn it into a Bread Pudding).
So now I have added "Carrot and Ginger Bread" to my repertoireThe boys will have that in their lunchbox tomorrow too - with a cheese/salad filling.
Enthused I decided to try another ... Mango Macadamia ... except, I didn't have any mango  used up some apple sauce instead) and I didn't have any nutmeg  sub'd that with cinnamon
... oh and just to make matters more difficult ... didn't have any macadamia nuts either LOL  sub'd with cashews
So I suppose I should now call it Apple Cashew Bread?
I've popped that in the freezer for sometime over the weekend.

Im going to be a terrible slacker this evening and have chinese since I cooked a proper meal last night for guests (I thought I was delia, it looked and tasted pretty swish) and have an early night as im knackered, ive caught one of those (look away if you happen to be eating!) awful snotty colds that only children have and must have caught it off a parent at my course! Aaarrgghhh... Its awful - massively bunged up and feel like pulling a tantrum in the style of a 3yr old!
On a plus note (I think) my ebay stuff arrived today, some was posted from malaysia and arrived in 3 days or something (how fast is that!!) and some stuff was attempted to be delivered but didnt quite make it through the door as boyf had yet another lazy day in bed (grrrr) and I really needed the stuff - my soup containers for taking to work!
Anyway, aside from that I had a good day, had more congrats from the bossman for performing the best out of my course (yey!!!) and helped out a few people which I always enjoy. On that note im going to have some painkillers and a mug of tea wrapped in a blanket on the sofa watching trashy tv while the boyf goes and fetches my munchies. Awesome! In bed by 10 I reckon!

Hello All,
Had a really good day with Ds today. Took him to playgroup for the second time and he loved it! Made friends with 2 other mums there as well. Then I treated us both to lunch in the local morrisons as I have just been paid.
Ended up cleaning our living room carpet tonight, as we are suppose to be having our new sofas tomorrow. Hope they will fit through the door! Have done all of my paid to click sites, and I'm now going to have a good look through my stuff, to get rid of either on ebay, carboot, family or charity shop. Talking about towels, I'm 26 and i inherited some off my mum that she had when I was a baby! Get used for mopping up spills etc round the house. have a good evening...powieA woman is like a tea bag. You never know how strong she is until she gets into hot water.:D0 -
Oh dear, still a lot of poorly posters on here! i do hope you get better very soon! P-P hope that headache will be gone in the morning and that your poor DD is staring to feel a bit better. Kiwichick I hope your DD is okay now!
Welcome Wishing on a Star, this is a nice place to be! I'm long-term sick, and am far less lonely during the day since discovering this site - the hours fly by (no wonder not much housework gets done some days...) and I've learnt a lot, not to mention buying a slow cooker!
AussielassI guess it's already the 27th for you, so i hope you had a good day yesterday!
May have to get a new food processor, as something has happened to mine and it leaks if I put liquid in it - seems to be a seal missing, all started last week when I tipped the goblet upside down to put the sliced veggies in the SC abd the spindle fell into the SC as well! I've hunted high and low in the kitchen and there's no sign of the seal my OH says must be missing, but I don't think I've ever tried putting liquid in it before, only used it for slicing veggies. It seems so extravagant to but a whole new FP, but the one I've got was chosen by my OH (I'd asked for a FP for Christmas that year and it didn't occur to him that I might like to choose it myself) and I've never liked it. The instruction book's very poor. (It's a Moulinex Ovatio.). If I do get a new one, which one do people recommend? I seem to remember lots of praise for Magimix.
Went to visit MIL in Dover yesterday. We had a nice time, but when we went out to lunch she forgot to pick up her keys, as she was trying to hurry so as not to keep us waiting (despite our telling her to take her time and to make sure she had them), so in the end we had to take her to SIL's house to wait for her OH to finish work and pick her up!
Bought a really cute teddy for expected grandchild, only to find after getting home that the label said "recommended for children over 36 months, due to some fibre loss." Oh well, it'll have to sit on a high shelf in his/her bedroom until he/she is old enough for it! At least it was a very good bargain.
I bet hardly anyone will read this post as it's so late in the day! oh well, never mind. Hope you all had a good day.
