Very confusing morning- DH will not let me set the alarm for 6.30 as he "always wakes up naturally before the alarm!"
We can all guess what happened this morning can't we?
Have now decided that I can set the alarm after all - as it is on his side of the bed and he cannot work out how to turn it off - we are in for a fun time tomorrow.
Dishwasher is on and have popped on here before I go out to get hair cut.
No idea what to make for tea as they are all so picky.

Ive just got the Vicks out actually-well its one I bought from USA last year and abit stronger than the UK version and a much larger pot and much cheaper:D Talking about the USA, I have many friends and family that go there each year, so never pay (or pay very little) for my deodrants (use Dove stick Aloe Vera and cant get this one in the UK-twice the size of UK and £1-have about 5 of these in the cupboard-LOL), hairsprays (40p and good quality), toothpaste (70p but Colgate and huge), mouthwash (£1 Huge Colgate), room sprays (50p and folk arty ones) and body lotion (huge pump of Vitamin E Walmart £1) Love the US stuff:rolleyes:
Wish I was going this year.....never mind!
OH is now cooking a banana and walnut loaf in the BM. Think he will be starting to post on OS soon. Queenie-Im going to make sure he's done his measurements ok.

Have not had a chance to read how you all are for a couple of days, so I'll be checking up on that in a minute. Good wishes to all anyway for today.
Horrible drilling and banging continues here today although there will be nothing to show for it except a dry wall (hopefully). I am hiding out upstairs, going to have a look at MSE and agonize over whether to order a Panasonic Breadmaker. I have read the threads and there are too many songs of praise about it to consider another but just under £77 on Amazon is the cheapest price I could find. I am supposed to be budgeting! Although I am at least that amount within budget for my grocery challenge so I am seriously wavering!
DD to go to Maths tutor this afternoon so I look forward to getting away from the NOISE!0 -
Morning all,
Feeling a bit tired this morning as suddenly at 12.30am O/H dives out of bed convinced he heard someone outside on the patio trying to get into the garden shed. He rushed downstairs turned all the lights on and then went outside just in his boxers and work boots  to investigate. Not a pretty sight I can tell you!! He didn't see anything or find anyone and then I couldn't get back to sleep thinking someone was going to break in. Meanwhile he was snoring away. Great!!
I have decided to start a de-clutter in order to do some decorating which is much in need. My dining room and bedroom haven't been painted for 3 years  and I want some new flooring in the kitchen. Have no idea whatmaybe laminate, but its a solid stone floor and a bit uneven so might have to make do with lino again. Haven't informed O/H yet of my plans so that will be a nice surprise for him as its he that will be doing it
Enjoy your day all, might try and catch up later

Mornin' all.
Just back from the doctors, I've had a hacking cough for weeks now, and the pharmacist yesterday told me to get myself up to the gp'S and get some anti-b's .. hopefully this will do the trick as frankly I need some sleep! Last night it was 2am before I passed out, and with DD waking me up at 6am, not the most restful! Ne'er mind eh.
Weather threatening to snow, but it's been doing that for days!
Crocheting - ha, well, yes, I dug out a crochet needle, some yarn and a "learn-to-crochet" book, and failed dismally. I must go looking for techniques for being left handed. Otherwise I shall just leave it to my MIL who has just made me some beautiful bowl covers, awfully useful for keeping the flies off in the Summer.
USA - DH is currently over there, armed with a shopping list, so hopefully he will be successful! Totally non-OS, but perhaps some PMS ... he has bought an iPod Nano for me, costing approx. £139 as opposed to £179 ...
B - weetabix
L - beef and egg sarnie (already consumed)
D - whatever I can muster!
One question for you all, you keep mentioning Curry Queen's curry ... but I can't find the recipe for it ... I've tried, honest I have! Please please please point me towards it!
Right, time to go and crash out hopefully for a couple of hours until I need to pick DD up from nursery.GC - March 2024 -0 -

Hi Everyone,
Our office is on strike today and tomorrow, :j so I was really looking forward to a couple of days pottering around Old Stylin', but have got off to a bad start.
OH was taking my car to work to give it a run as it doesn't get used so much now, but it wouldnt start. Called out the Homestart people who said it was (luckily) just a flat battery and gave me a jump start so I took it out for a spin to get it going again.
The water meter repair man turned up at 10 to 8 this morning, as DD's were having a wash, and had to turn the water off so that put us into a panic, but managed to make it into school on time.
DD's other guinea pig has died,(the first one died in the Christmas holidays) so they were quite upset about that, we had had them for six years, and will miss their cute furry faces. DD's brightened up a bit as there is talk from OH about a rabbit or two when the weather warms up....
Also had bad news yesterday, a friend has been diagnosed with breast cancer and is awaiting chemo and radiotherapy. She is one of the healthiest people I know, so it was quite a shock, thats two of my good friends now with this horrible disease, the first is only 36, she was diagnosed when she was 33. I am going out for a meal soon with my friend so will hear more from her then.
On the other hand, the sun is shining and I am not at work :j so I am going to put the radio on and blitz the ironing pile, and then (hopefully) will find time to do some baking later, DD1 has requested chocolate concrete and custard, I have found a recipe on the internet so I will give it a try. (My aunt is a school cook and I have not managed to wheedle the recipe for this from her - is there is a dinner lady code of secrecy sorrounding this recipe I want to know :silenced: )
Queenie I hope the chocolate cake turns out OK, let us know!0 -

:j Welcome Wishingonastar. I am new here too and enjoying being a part of OS :A to all here.
Michelle, I hope you get to take it easy today as that accident yesterday must have been very scary. Glad to hear you are physically unharmed.
I notice that plenty of folk are not feeling well so hope that Zed, pp,taplady, nicki, bargain Rzl and scuzz and the poorly children feel better soon.
Smokey I hope you enjoy your swim. Once I am in the pool I am fine but loathe stripping off in cold changing rooms at this time of year!
Pooky I enjoy crocheting and am glad it has come back into fashion. Feel I should go and find a pattern now for one of those pretty tops and get going again. There are lots of freeones on the Internet so I'll try there first.
Didn't know it was Australia Day until I read it on here so happy celebrations to those it applies to.
I cringe to admit I find a use even for holey towels. I cut out the good bits, fold and stitich them around 3 sides then invert and stitch fourth side. Make great cleaning and drying cloths as if you fold them in half you can get 4 surfaces to clean with IFYKWIM.
Sorry for your children re the guineapigs Sweet Pea, we have been through lots of pet grieving ourselves.
I am very sad to hear about your friend's Breast Cancer. Going by our experience lately with DH's cancer the most important people can be friends. Easier somehow to discuss things with than family. I do hope that she is still at a fairly early stage but even so people can beat this awful disease at later stages. My Good Luck and sincere wishes to her.0 -

I'm left handed...do a seach on google for "learning to crochet" some really good sites, just ignore when they say hold in your right hand....I actually printed some of the pictures out but reversed them in a photo programme first so that they'd look left handed....helped a lot.
Little one sound asleep - others have just left....typically no one wanted to dress up or make lanterns....so we took a different route and gave them all a bowl of noodles each and some chop sticks and tried to explain how to use them....was very messy but good for a few laughs.
