Off soon to my first jumble sale of 2006! I mainly buy books, but usually have a rummage through whatever else is on offer too. DH once bought a little wooden cabinet at this particular sale for £8 - and sold it at auction for £80!!
Also have some Amazon and swapit books to post.
This afternoon I'll make a nice brown loaf and if it stays sunny maybe go out on the bike.

.... Queenie-TBH, Im a little upset by your post. ..... I feel in some way that your comments are personally directed to me ....

    No offence intended.

Sorry you felt that way PP.

I can assure you, and hope I don't offend when I say ... it wasn't about you.

I admit that my post was not my usual tone but a reaction to a couple of remarks which were directly addressed to me.

  • Morning all

Been up for about an hour now - just catching up on yesterdays news.

    Happy birthday nicki

hope all the little uns are feeling better today (and big uns too). We now have a sick little one - OH DD (DSD) has a chest infection, possibly now has asthma (is on inhaler at moment) - she had very unsettled sleep last night - coughing on and off - will leave in her bed for as long as she wants today but she wants to help make biscuits we me later so we will see.

    Posted Hol from Sun

Went shopping after work yesterday for some new baking trays as mine are a little mnnhh grubby (and that is being kind) - bought some storage tubs also and a loaf tin. Went to Braehead to get a swimming cossie (part of new health kick - swimming at least twice a week) bumped into OH DS at 4pm (DSS) who was off school this week (another story). We had been due to collect the kids at 430pm (they live right across the road from centre). In the centre they where giving away mini cans of Diet coke - DSS knew one of the workers who had been allowing him to take cases of them way - he had got his mum 27  cases of them - he asked us if we wanted some - yes please we said - he got us three and was going to get us another couple when his mobile rang - it was his mother looking for him - he explained what he was doing and do you know that woman had her son in tears - she screamed that "he arranged to meet his dad there to get the cola and he had no right doing that as she wanted to get more later that day " - she called him a liar and the poor soul was upset - got the rest of our shopping and went over to collect DSD. OH is not allowed into house when he collects kids - his ex doesnt talk to him - when they came back out DSS was crying again as she had another go at him
Picked up cousin and went to the bowling - we all had a great laugh - went for something to eat - we shared a bottle of wine (me and cousin) - he was almost sleeping by the time we had got home (it was nearly 915pm and he had been up early as he was in respite this week)

Didnt get home till after 10pm - those that have PM re DL - will sent info today - apologies.

Plans for today - tidy kitchen - looks like bombsite as bags just dumped last night - perishables put away tho'. HM soup in SC, biscuits and bread to be made - will make curry for freezer and will put on Stew and beef joint overnight in SC

    B - ??
    L - ??
    D - pizza maybe

Have a lovely day all - sorry for the long post - needed to vent a bit about that woman

    Love all and take care

    Morning all

Lovely bright sunny day here - very windy tho. DH has gone to work for a few hours so I'm here with DD's again! I've told him that I must go to the library this afternoon and I need to get to the veg stall at the market.

DD's are feeling slightly better - they've started argueing - always a good sign. :j

BM's on - DW is on - DH forgot to set it going last night  DH also managed to block the sink -- good old bicarb eh!!

Brekkie - cereal and fruit all round
Lunch - left over quiche and sausage and salsa wraps from last night
Tea - Turkey pie -- we will eat this damn thing!!!!

Hope you all have a great saturday......WB Queenie :T

    Morning All

Had a rather disturbed night with DD effects of the MMR I suppose. Not much on today, need to put on BM in a minute and wash my lovely new nappies. Will proberbly nip into town later on and go and see my dad as well. OH got paid yesterday :j which is alot earlier than I thought, its a new job so not quite up to date with his pay days yet. As I'd budgeted to the end of the month I've transfered the money to the savings ac and it can stay there for now.

    Breakfast: Toast and tea
Lunch: HM soup and HM bread
Tea: Chinese style belly pork and egg fried rice

    Have a good day everyone

Nearly forgot Happy birthday Nicky and WB Queenie

Not really a recipe as such but a week or two ago I made some veg soup with the last remains of my veg box intending to whiz it first and then add some separately fried mince to get a sort of meat soup.

The main ingredient was turnip, and it didn't disguise very well, so I bunged in a big teaspoon of bovril and it worked. Though to be honest, what I got was more like mince in a thick and rich gravy.

So last night I used up the last of the plain veg soup by adding stock cubes (one per half pint - ish) and mince and doing it in the slow cooker. Served with taters and cabbage it was really yummy.

I guess the point is - if you have some soup left over you can easily turn it into gravy...

    :)
