Thanks, but this IS a re-con one:eek::eek::eek: Cost of parts for Rovers has gone through the roof:rolleyes: One garage had the nerve to quote us an extra £20 beacuse he is "obliged" to send the old one for re-conditiong...so why should we pay for him to flog it to another mug? Roll on April when we get our hands on a nice cheap Ford:D

That from a garage  OMG.

We use to get are re-cons from a car spare shops. And we would get a discount for taking in the old one for them to re-con it.

Do you have any scrap yards near by? Might be worth a try.

That is an obscene amount of money for a re-con.

Roll on april is all I can.

I thought the decor in my house was bad when I moved in, but yours hon is positively:eek:

Mine looks quite tasteful now

I have two tone purple swirl carpet in all the bedrooms  Can't afford new carpets but got the wall paper really cheap like a £1 a roll and then BOGOF in Hypervalue back last year. Not a great choice but had to be better then what was already on the walls. So have the paper just need to finish stripping the rooms.

Done the Living room. kitchen, craft room (smallest bedroom) and the hall. Just the bathroom and two bedrooms to go.

Need to save are pennies and get some carpet soon. LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

MMR wasnt to bad DD only cried for a minute, just need to keep an eye on her temp and give regular dose of Paracetmol for 24 hrs. A friend of a friend has just called round and given me £200 worth of washable nappies, this is just fantastic because it means that short term I've got a set that can stay at my MIL for when shes looking after DD, shes already said she doesnt mind washing them :T and long term if I'm lucky enough to have another child while DD is still in nappies I we wont have to buy anymore :j .

Just going to give DD her tea which is fresh bread with cheese cubes and tomatos and a fairy cake for dessert (it is Friday after all). Whiles shes eating that I wash the kitchen and bathroom floors and then whens shes finished I'll hoover the living room and thats all the house work done :j

CQ we have that truely hideous carpet in our living room but in brown  OH keeps telling me that it will come back into fashion eventually cant see it myself at the moment its distracting visitors from the hideous conditon of our ceilling (home done artex  ) so it does have some uses. In fact  is the best way to describe the majority of our house apart from DD, sisters and the bathroom which we have decorated. Ho Hum suppose it will get done in the end.

    OMG

As my late FIL said when you have motorised transport you always have your hand in your pocket.

Well at least with a ford you get lots of factor parts cheap from most car spares shops.

And cars always go wrong when you least need as well.

    Typical.

Glad you have something sorted out for the time being.

  • LOL! I'm another one in the same boat and here is a sneak preview of my eldest's bedroom BEFORE we stripped it out

The rest of the rooms weren't much better either so we've just stripped off the worst of the paper in main areas and given it a coat of magnolia emulsion for now until I can afford to decorate properly and replace carpets etc.

Like you said, it will be worth it once we get there but it's going to take best part of this year, or maybe longer, to get it how I want it.

Oh My Gawd - that makes my house look really tasteful too. I just have to put up with an off magnolia colour but with horrendous borders at the top just under the coving. living room has a brown border with white bows, and green velevet curtains. At least i don't mind when the kittens try to climb up them.

My sister had worse - she had 'tartan' wallpaper, which when she took it off, the plaster fell off the wall. At least mine appears to be structurally sound.

Just twigged - my MIL gave us a set of curtains that match that blue wallpaper beautifully. I think i'm better off sticking to the green ones!!

C-Q, do let us know if the banana crumble works - it sounds delicious

    As for that hideous decor...

I think the wallpaper design might just about work on curtains in a room with plain walls. Might look nice actually.

But that photo - I think the word the Changing Rooms-type people use (when they're trying to be diplomatic) is "BUSY".

    Tip for the day:
Don't let children play unsupervised with your bean bag!!

Last night, it was fun watching DS2 run and jump on the bean bag. However, this morning, DS1 obviously joined in and there must also have been some pulling and tugging of said bean bag.

So, today I shall mostly be vacuuming polysyrene beads up!!

    :rotfl: - not!

    :D

    :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

This reminds me of our DD when she was younger. She & her best friend once spent the whole night of a sleepover having a polystyrene ball fight, using the contents of her bean bag.
Needless to say, their reward in the morning was to collect up said balls & return them to the original receptacle!
Little white polystyrene balls kept appearing in the vacuum cleaner from that room for years. And the two of them kept up a sort of joke for years, by sending one another polystyrene balls as a reminder of that hilarious night!
After DD had left home & we were re-carpeting that room - as we took up the carpet, guess what we found!!!!
I think it has taken about 10 years, but we are finally free of little white polystyrene balls in that room. Mind you, I wouldn't be too confident that none remain lurking under the floorboards.
When the two of them meet, they still laugh about it!
  • Evening

DD been quite ill today with temperature etc. Cleaner has been and done a fab job:D 3 washloads done today and all either hung on washing line or airer. Have another load to do, but that can wait till tomorrow.

Got a great deal from LX Direct couple of days ago. Found a voucher for £13.50 off on the voucher section and bought DD 2 pairs of Nike Cortez trainers (pink ones normally £35 a pair) for £22 including postage:eek: they were already in the sale and were delivered today and are beautiful. She is already a size 5 and has just turned 11. Have told her to use one pair and keep the other in the box, then if they dont fit her in 3 months-i can flog on ebay and make £15 easily;)

Watching Lost series 2, episode 10 tonight and 11 tomorow.

Right, I have to go as Ive just been handed my dinner. Scampi, HM chips, onion rings, peas and bread/butter...and tartare sauce............scrummy...I luv fridays.

    Have a good evening.

  • Hi to everyone.
CQ - i think that swirly carpet most be in loads of houses around the country - i currently have it in brown on my stairs and upstairs landing :) I am in the process of redecorating but my kitchen took 3 years so it may be down for a while yet.

Since I have been writing in the daily thread (only a week but ..) i have realised that I do the same thing every day :(

Went for a run again before work - best time yet (i've been running for 8 moonths now) so a good start to the day. Work was hectic. I will be spending my Friday night babysitting, it isn't too bad - she is almost 3 but never wakes up and is asleep when i get there - so it just means i get to spend my Friday night sat in someone elses house rather than my own.

Tomorrow i have to be up at 7 (a bit of a lie in) to get the bus & train to Leeds for a full day in college (i've just recently started my accountancy exams) and then Sunday i guess i'll be trying to make sense of what we were taught on Saturday :)

    b - peanut butter sandwich
l - chicken (done in the SC) pasta salad
d - sausage casserole (done in SC and frozen) and mash.

hope every one has a good evening and weekend

    Cheers
