went to go to the shops & the car died:p New starter motor at £150+ required:mad: A bit of a false investment as we are getting a new car in April (buying my dads off him at a bargin price) but no way we can manage without one until then. It got hit again last week by yet another dirver who failed to stop, 2nd time in a year:mad: It won't be worth a thing by the time we come to sell it:rolleyes:

Have you thought about getting a re-con one would probably pay about £50 depending on the make and model of the car. Some even give a 3 month warranty as well.

That is what we have done in the past when the car has conked out. Saved us loads.

I'm never playing Monopoly with DD again! She beat me AGAIN!!!!!!!!! How on earth can a 4 year-old beat a 26 (okay, 27 tomorrow) at Monopoly?!?!?! Oh well, she's happy now that she won and currently sitting on the floor watching Cbeebies while she finishes her dinner. She's going for a rest (2pm at the latest!) as shes shattered, main evidence is the fact that she cried for 10 minutes straight before for no apparent reason - she soon cheered up though when I said she could post the card into the postbox

Under the sink cupboard has been cleaned out as I couldn't find the thin bleach for washing my cleaning cloths in as things tend to get shoved in the cupboard any old way :o Cleaning cloths have now been on a bleach wash and are currently in with my microfibre cloths (and gardening gloves - if they fall apart then hey ho I'll buy some new ones ;) ) on a 30min wash. I'm hoping the bright blue sky will stay around long enough for me to get them out on the washing line and at least partly dry as I have a "lights" wash to do which can go on hangers and airers in the bedroom. The sun sets at 4.32pm and I know the washing won't be finished in time to make use of the little bit of sun left.

I need to sort out some papers including paying the electric bill if BG website is working! While I'm there I'll check out our "consumption" for the past 12 months for comparison websites, then I'll shop around for a new cheaper supplier ;) One more lot of dishes to do and a general tidy of the livingroom and I'm done, at least until I have to do tea tonight (bought DD some spaghetti shapes with mini sausage as a treat and so that the scampi will stretch that little bit further :p ) and a dark wash. Should really phone Johanne after as well about babysitting arrangements for tomorrow night :j Right, off to start on the paperwork.

Thanks, but this IS a re-con one:eek::eek::eek: Cost of parts for Rovers has gone through the roof:rolleyes: One garage had the nerve to quote us an extra £20 beacuse he is "obliged" to send the old one for re-conditiong...so why should we pay for him to flog it to another mug? Roll on April when we get our hands on a nice cheap Ford:D

I'm in the same boat with horrid carpets/curtains from the previous occupant -we said we'd get rid as soon as possible, and are still the same nearly 2 years later.

LOL! I'm another one in the same boat and here is a sneak preview of my eldest's bedroom BEFORE we stripped it out

    **Pic now removed**

The rest of the rooms weren't much better either so we've just stripped off the worst of the paper in main areas and given it a coat of magnolia emulsion for now until I can afford to decorate properly and replace carpets etc.

Like you said, it will be worth it once we get there but it's going to take best part of this year, or maybe longer, to get it how I want it.

I think the poor old dear must have been colour blind or something :rotfl: ... and she sure loved her flowers!!! _pale_

Well, we've finished everything at the flat this morning so I never have to go back there again :j :j :j ... just waiting for landlord's verdict when he collects the keys now. It's been lovely and sunny here this morning, perfect drying weather, so I put the WM on when I got back but it's starting to cloud over and go dull now, typical!!!

I've decided to make a crumble for pudding tonight but not sure what to put in it yet and have a choice of bananas (do they work ok in a crumble?) strawberries or peaches, or maybe a combination of all three with some coconut added to the topping :D

Other than that I'm going to put my feet up for the rest of the day and crack open a bottle of wine ... think I've deserved it this week :D

Is there a fool proof way of peeling and cutting turnip/swede as im finding it very difficult to prepare,is there such a thing as "easy peelers" like you can buy with the likes of satsumas or am i being thick.I dont even think a stanley knife and an axe would go through the ones i buy.

What I normally do is peel the skin off with a potato peeler then pop in the microwave for about 30 secs and this softens it enough to cut easier.

Just been to Lidl and then washed down all the kitchen worktops.

Tea is Slimming world chips sausage and baked beans and made a jelly and custard with mandarin oranges for DDs for after.

DH can have remnants of home made soup with a couple of rolls and DD can have some crusty rolls filled with tuna and melted cheese if she is picky.

    Happy Birthday to AC:j
