Morning all :hello:
Happy Birthday Apprentice Tycoon!
And :grouphug: to all sick kiddies, I had the mumps myself when I was 5 and missed being in my infant school nativity playDidn't cause me any lasting problems though - the main thing is to make sure any adult males in the house don't get it (or have had it when they were little) as it can affect male fertility  For some reason the main thing I remember about having mumps is that at first my parents thought it was hilarious and took photos of me with a square face
I worked really late last night (9:40pm!!!) and then when I got home my internet connection was broken so I couldn't snuggle up with MSE before bed (sorry Martin - didn't mean you personally) It's been on and off all week - I hope it's fixed for the weekend, though I have to say, I'll achieve a lot more this weekend if I can't get on the internet
MUST do some cooking this weekend. I have £5 left in the weekly budget and lots of meat in the freezer, so I reckon all I should need that £5 to cover is veg. Will try Lidl where a lot of things are half price at the moment, or the new place I mentioned yesterday which has a huge display of yummy-looking veg out the front at seemingly very reasonable prices.
Oh SOD it - I just remembered I should have taken my last remaining portion of fish pie & peas out of the freezer before I came to work this morning. Never mind, it will be fine after a MW auto defrost and a thorough reheat. I might decide to have it with a bottle of very good quality white Bordeaux I got given as a Christmas present, though actually I think I might stay on the wagon this evening so as to wake up with a clear head.
Am evaluating my career options (haven't heard back about that job yet BTW) - and having drifted through jobs since I was 21, I think I FINALLY have an ambition in a specific direction. And it's all thanks to this site! I'm considering training in some kind of financial advice field, possibly as an IFA but to be honest I think I might prefer something which involved debt counselling, or advising people on how to budget - if that makes sense! I'm doing a lot of research on the best way to get into it. Suspect it might take years of training though...
AnywayI have work to do so I'll be back later.

Happy Birthday Apprentice Tycoon.
Hugs and best wishes to all poorly people - plenty of vitamins if you can manage them.
I have to wait in today as we are having a telly delivered. It can arrive any time between 8am and 6pm, so hopefully early as i could do with nipping to the bank. Did a massive ASDA shop online yesterday as i had a code to get £10 off. I still spent £120. I think i should have tried to do it in 2 lots and see if i could have used the voucher twice as it was on a spend of £50plus.
Looks like it's going to be really nice today. I have to put the BM on soon. I forgot to last night, and hubbie is having to buy a sandwich today - first time this month though, and he still took fruit so it shouldn't be a major spend. Also need to get the WM on if i'm only sitting around.
I also watched the mortgage programme. I think it is week 3? of 8? I found it quite interesting, and would love to see if anyone actually manages to do it. We're hoping to pay ours off in 12. I got the idea that the programme might be shown in one half this year, and then part two next year. I love seeing how other people earn their keep though.
Have a good day everyone - hope there are no more germs flying around.

Dishwasher is on and am boiling potatoes so I can make a Slimming World meal tonight.
Went back last night and had not gained as much weight as I had feared but determined to get back into it.
Leftover soup from Yesterday for DH and I had an omelette with mullerlight yoghurt to follow for breakfast.
Filled a flask with coffee and it is beside me as I type.
Will go to Lidl later for essentials and will make sure things are suitable for me rather than for everyone else!
DH due home early so will go when he arrives."This site is addictive!"

Morning OS ers,is it ok if i ask a couple of questions on this thread please.
What is butternut squash? is it homemade or shop baught?
Is there a fool proof way of peeling and cutting turnip/swede as im finding it very difficult to prepare,is there such a thing as "easy peelers" like you can buy with the likes of satsumas or am i being thick.I dont even think a stanley knife and an axe would go through the ones i buy.

If you want to peel a swede etc - it is easier to cut it into slices widthways - like circles and then peel.
I got this tip fron a veg seller on the market and it works."This site is addictive!"

Thank you all so much - you've made my day! :j
I'm 50 today - and I really don't know how that happened, in my head I'm 30, hubs says I have the sense of humour of a 12 year old and the kids think that I was born an adult. The mirror says 50 though...
My prezzies included a little indoor water fountain for the southeast corner of the living room, a Lakeland voucher, the shop is only a mile away  hubs says that this is where he'll scatter my ashes when I pop off because this is where I've spent my happiest hours- lots of chocks and some paper with photos of the queen on it to do with as I please... wayhay!

Good morning everyone and happy birthday A-T!!
Hope everyone who is feeling poorly will be feeling better soon.
Well, glad its Friday, have a busy day with 3 little ones here, but they are watching Dora at the moment, so i have time to have a go on the computer, and hopefully wash my kitchen floor, before they want me to play again!!!
The BM is on, making the pizza dough for tonight, only have half a load for both the DW and WM, so they will go on later.
Have my mum arriving later for the weekend, its lovely when she comes to visit, as she always brings a big food parcel, and that is always a big help!!!! Ive got the last day of my first aid course tomorrow, so she will be looking after DS and DD for me, they always get spoiled with Nanny around!!!!
Thats all, i think, must whip the duster and hoover around, but will do that this afternoon (i like it tidy when someone comes to visit!!) im going to look out for some lemon oil, so i can use that instead of furniture polish, ive already started using vinegar in my bathroom now!!!!
Take care, and hope everyone has a good day
