Morning all. Happy Birthday AT!!!!!
DD is off school today as its a Teacher Training day. I was supposed to be able to have a lie in but she was up at her usual time even though she didn't get in from her friends until 8.30! She's currently laying on the sofa watching Milkshake but I've promised her that we'll play Disney Monopoly all day AFTER we've been to the shops - I forgot to buy milk yesterday (we're down to the last pint and it expires on Sunday so that means it will be on the turn today probably!) and I need to post my uncles birthday card as it's his birthday tomorrowGood job I've got 1st class stamps left over from Xmas.
:o No other plans for today - tea tonight should (in theory) be scampi and chips and I need to remember to get out the pizza and garlic bread out the freezer for OH to cook for me tomorrow night (only because they cook faster when defrosted)
Oh well, off to Neopet and then get DD washed and dressedCreeping back in for accountability after falling off the wagon in 2016.Need to get back to old style in modern ways, watching the pennies and getting stuff done!0 -
Well. OH is ill too! He and I are too weak to do much. The babes have perked up (good, but not when we feel awful!) and the eldest two have thrown a wobbly because they cant go to school. We are just too weak to take them. They suggested catching a bus, but if they get ill during the day we are still too weak to collect them.
As I went to bed at 6 last night, I missed 3 essential items on ebay - all of them went for considerably less than I was prepared to pay. So a bit miffed. But ah well - its ebay so there will be more along soon.
Will have to phone my boss in a minute. I hate doing that. Why do bosses sneer when you are ill? He is off more than I am - I dont get sick that often - but its the tuts and sighs and the offers of get well, which really mean I expect you back ASAP.
DD3 had her 2 teeth out yesterday. OH took her before he felt bad, but they waited over an hour after appointment time to bee seen. And she has to go back for a third. Which I knew nothing about. They didn't tell me that last week, so I will question it when I take her back next week.
So today is not very OS at all. I will probably get a few wash loads done and I need to scrub the bathroom from top to bottom so we don;t all get ill again and the rest will be cureld up on the sofa. Which is a good day as I wont be spending a penny.
have a nice day to all.0 -
skystar wrote:MrsB, I hope its the same when you get through to the call centres in Scotland too. I am always helpful and polite to my customers
Sorry Skystar, of course it is. It's usually the Scot's I get through to with personal banking and they're always fab. Sorry - I'm terrible for saying England when really I suppose I mean UK. Grovelling appologies to all Scots / Welsh / Irish peeps.I'd rather be a could-be if I cannot be an are; because a could-be is a maybe who is reaching for a star. Had a chat with OH last night and he's back to 'leave her to it mode'....which is fantastic. It'll make things easier on one front. However, he did have a quick chat with his mother. Lets just say that she isn't one for holding back (ie, she says exactly what she thinks with no holes barred), so suspect daughter & fiance will get it in the neck from her at the weekend. OH is very close to his mum and its natural for him to talk things through with her. So its not anything that I could have prevented.
Yes he did have to tell her, as OH's daughter goes to the same college as his Mum's other daughter. So we thought it would be far better if we got in first....that if we let rumour spread (and no, OH's DD isn't one for keeping her mouth shut....so it would have got round eventually). At least this way OH's Mum will have time to simmer down a little....dumping things like this on her and not giving her time to think about things tend to cause even worse reactions.
We are under orders not to tell OH's DD what might be coming....but she should be able to work it out herself anyway. She has been on the receiving end once before.
And I thought I was scared before......
Step Daughter has also yet to tell her other Nan (mum's mum) and her grandad. I hope that she gets an okay response from them, but OH suspects that they won't be best pleased. Especially as they are very religious (mormon) and DD's fiance is not.
So, I think OH is now calm about things and will simply leave her to get on with things.....good. I will do the same....good. As for everyone else's response....I'll start to pray again.Baby Year 1: Oh dear...on the move
Lily contracted Strep B Meningitis Dec 2006  Now seemingly a normal little monster.
Love to my two angels that I will never forget.0 -
DD is home today with her tonsils swollen.....hope its not mumps:eek: Her ear is all red too. I feel achy all over (which is usual) but throat and glands in neck tight, swollen and sore:mad:
DD is currently playing on her DS thingy and she has stripped her bed. Shes also eaten her marmite sarnie from her lunch box instead of having breakie...so she cant be that bad....she does look abit pasty though:rolleyes:
Our bedding has been stripped and DW emptied. OH & I have had 2 coffees so far. Washload done and now have another 2 to do (bedding), but may do this tomorrow if weather is dry as I like beeding dried outside.
Will catch up later. Love to all

_party_ Happy Birthday AP!!! _party_
I slept much better last night but I'm aching all over after yesterday LOL! Just had a bath to try and ease me old bones but think what I really need is a good ole massage
Need to go back to the flat for one last time today to finish cleaning one carpet and check how the others have come up, although I think I might need to go over a few spots again today in the heavy traffic areas (what on earth possessed them to put down cream carpets  ) as they didn't look too great last night but maybe that's because they were wetOh well, I've tried my best and if they're not good enough for him then he'll have to get professional carpet cleaners in and take it from my deposit
Didn't manage to get much done in eldest's bedroom last night as I was just too knackered and he's home again this morning for the weekend and is probably expecting it all to be finished by now!
It probably would have been if we weren't having to put right the bodge job that someone has done in there previously  It seems there's about an inch gap between the ceiling and walls and someone has gone round and skimmed the tops of the walls with plaster to hide it, but they've put it over existing wallpaper and then papered over that!!! Never noticed until we stripped the paper off to decorate it and large chunks of plaster fell away too  Now we need to get the rest off and fill the gaps with something called caulking (sp?) and sand it all down before re-papering. Might even need to put coving up yet to cover the joins. Must get that done next week though as he's getting discharged on the 31st :j
Not sure what the rest of the day holds yet so off to get another :coffee: to help me think about it
Have a good day

Hiya everyone
So sorry for all the pooly little ones and parents, out there. Must be really horrible having something as nasty as mumps or measles. I'm so lucky in that my two hardly catch a thing - however, I'm sure they will at some point
Feel so much better today - both DS's slept through last night and I didn't wake until 6.59 - having a bad dream too:( I dreamt that DS2 had wandered away in town and I couldn't find him. I think subconsciously that I was missing having him crawling in beside me
Anyway, DS1 off to school and DS2 playing with his train set - best pressie we ever bought himGot it off ebay and it's quite an intricate layout so you get lots of track, but because it winds over iself, it takes up much less space, so I can have it on a board on a little table in his room. So, because it doesn't have to get packed away all the time - it gets used - yay. He's got pre-school later anyway.
I have a phone mystery shopping job to do later, plus one this evening, so may see if I can manage not to go into town today. I've seen Mr TM's CC bills and we only have enough to cover all CC bills this month - if we don't pay ANYTHING elseI always payoff in full as overdrafts are so much cheaper than CC interest payments. Going to 'make' him change his CC tho.
Ok, off for a shower, then I'll do some jobs - usual round of laundry, cleaning, cooking - although I'll have to routle in the freezer for inspiration for tea. (Unfortunately, I can't get into meal planning. I don't waste anything at all and have enough cupboard and freezer space to keep food in, so I'm not that bothered TBH)
Hope you all have a good day and Happy Birthday AT :j :j

Morning all
DD's are still really poorly - DD1 was up twice in the night with night sweats.....it was like someone had literally poured hot water over her and the bed.......So WM is on full tilt today - need to wash her duvet and pillows too (thank god for the huge drum on my WM) DH has taken a few hours off to take them back to the DR's this morning, Dr wanted to check them again today to see how they were going.
Will make some bisuicts later to tempt them with, got some soup out of the freezer (not sure what sort of soup cos' the label's fallen off - but it's got carrots in.....helpfull) Made a loaf last night so no need to put BM on tonight.
Watched that programme "pay off your mortgage in 2 years" last night - I assume I've missed a few episodes already but very interesting. Not that I've got a mortgage but it goes to show how you could pay any large debt off by being totally ruthless.
WM's finished so off to transfer to TD, airers are already full.
