DD's have got mumps  Don't know why I didn't think of it earlier.....loads of it about in this area so I've been told - Just waiting for a call back from the docs about how long they'll be contagious for....
Looks like we're in for a jolly weekend!
BM on - TD on (just want it dried and put away quick), DW loaded, HM beef soup for lunch which was yummy, dd's even managed half a bowl each, they said it's easier than trying to swallow lumpy stuff..bless.
I've made the filling for tonights turkey pie and a curried turkey and spinach filling for 2 quiches, just need to make the pastry. Tesco delivered my shopping and only managed to break the eggs and give me 4 items with short use by dates....phoned and got a refund for nearly £7. I'll be cooking all these bits up this afternoon to get them used....so short on freezer space so will use what I can.
Hope everyones afternoons going well."Start every day off with a smile and get it over with" - W. C. Field.0 -

Huge huggles to all sick babes.
I've just made a huge admission on the benefits board re my health, if anyone can help with some advice I would be hugely grateful?
Started to make some arrangements re my car. I've rung the insurance company to find out what I need to do re cancelling my insurance. I've got the logbook out in preparation for scrapping it. Is it worth sending the tax disc back for one months tax?Organised people are just too lazy to look for things

Mumps, oh dear ... I remember having mumps, it hurt, but I recovered ... jelly and ice-cream is always good!
Realised this morning that our Travel Insurance ran out last July ... oops, which meant that we went on hols w/o cover, and DH went to US last Autumn w/o cover oops, oops, oops! So, quickly had to find a new policy, but it was money I wasn't expecting, but it's turning in to one of those weeks ... a very very hefty car bill yesterday .. new CV joints / new front tyres / new brake pads .. sigh.
But hey, I've got vinegar, so it must be alright, yes!?!
Right, time to clean this office window before it gets dark and I can't see what I'm doing! Not that I fancy doing it with the audience of school kids gaggled around at the moment.GC - March 2024 -0 -
Things have started to wind up again.....when talking to OH earlier on he said "you know I will don't you"....do what I asked...."break his legs if he hurts her". Suggested that we have a long chat about things tonight and he agreed....so I have a few hours to get my head together and to work out what to say to him.
I think I've got it all worked out....and in theory it should slow him down a touch. The only problem will be at the weekend if DD or her 'intended' puts their feet in it. DD usually manages to do that with the style and grace of a house brick. That is, I calm Dad down and then she says something that sets him off.
I'm sure everything will be fine....I just have to prepare myself just in case things go decidedly pear shaped. Perhaps I should bring tranquizing darts to put people to sleep if things start to go badly?Baby Year 1: Oh dear...on the move

rchddap1 - your OH has to remember that an engagment is only a promise and people break promises every day! Until they are standing at the alter and exchanged vows and "pronounced husband and wife" there is still the chance it won't happen. BUT whatever he does, he shouldn't try to break them up or talk them out of it, judging by what you've said in your other posts, that could make them want to walk down the aisle on Monday! He really does need to remember that just because it went wrong for him, doesn't meant it will go wrong for his daughter.
I remember the comments OH and I got when he proposed on Xmas day 1999. As far as our families were concerned it was too quick as we'd only been going out since the May. We're still together nearly 7 years later and have a beautiful little girl who is 5 in April. We're still not married and you could say the pressure is on now OH's sister has gotten engaged to her boyfriend (they've been together 7 years this year as well! ) but we're happy the way we are. Nothing is going to change our mindset or split us up and I have the feeling that your step-daughter could feel the same way!Creeping back in for accountability after falling off the wagon in 2016.Need to get back to old style in modern ways, watching the pennies and getting stuff done!0 -

LOL or crushed Kalms in their tea!!! Sounds like you've got your hands full, good luck!!
I'm in the middle of a fight with HSBC and just want to bang their heads together. Why are they so Bl00dy stupid and unhelpful???? I'm trying to get some archived transaction details for cutomer card payments we processed last financial year - all I need is the amounts processed, date, and customers name. Can I get it??? Can I heckers like. All I can get is call centres in India, with extremely rude people telling me I cant have it. Even though I was told last week it was held on archive and although not easy to access, it was possible if I really needed it. Well, now I really need it, and they're denying it's existance again. ARRRRRGGGGHHHHH. PS nothing against Indian people by the way.
I DONT BELIEVE IT!!!!!!!!!!!!! Spent all that time arguing with them, for them to just turn round and say 'I've obtained permission from my supervisor to send you that information MrsB, it'll be with you in 2 - 3 working days!!!!!!! Fingers crossed they send what I actually need!!
Ok - now it's me that needs the Kalms!! Maybe I'll settle for a cuppa.I'd rather be a could-be if I cannot be an are; because a could-be is a maybe who is reaching for a star. I'd rather be a has-been than a might-have-been, by far; for a might have-been has never been, but a has was once an are – Milton Berle0 -
Mrs B - I'm with Natwest and the other day I rang up about an R85 form (non-tax payer thing) they'd sent me but it asked for account details I didn't know as it came with the account application form  The woman I got answered the phone within 2 rings ( ) and was the most polite, sensible and helpful person I've ever spoken to in 7 years of having to ring call centres! I had all my questions answered, a little bit of banter and hung up within 2 minutes
Just shows what can happen when BIG companies start to take a bit more notice of their customers needs
Now if only other companies could follow suit

This is what I've got to make sure is crystal clear and that he doesn't say something he'll regret later. People do break promises every day, but she isn't the sort of person to do so. She has made her decision, she has made her promise and she will stick by it. If there is a break up with will come from him, and not her. Then she will be very upset and we will have one of the scenarios that I fear.
It won't necessarily go wrong for her. It could turn out to be the best relationship for her, but from what we see she isn't ready for this yet. Just a couple of weeks ago she was in tears because someone was playing a joke on her boyfriend. He was going to see this person this weekend, but she asked us to re-arrange things. Turns out he was okay about the 'joke', but she was crying her eyes out.
Its hard to explain what we see, but in many ways her sister who is 13 is more 'adult' than she is. And no, these aren't just silly teenage ways.
I know she has said that the wedding won't happen for 2 years, but to be brutally honest I don't believe that it will happen that way. There are certain influences around her that will encourage things to be speeded up.
I can't moan about not knowing him for very long either...OH and I were inseperable after only a few days. But something in the back of my head is telling me its going to end in tears. I hope I'm wrong, for everyone, but this feeling won't go away.
I have already said congratulations and will continue to try my best to show her that I'm happy for her. (Not an easy thing to do though) If this does go wrong then this is a lesson that she will have to learn on her ownBaby Year 1: Oh dear...on the move
