Hey- I luuurve these 1970's decorated houses :D:D Ok, I'm joking, but in my very first house the main bedroom had dark brown patterned wallpaper - those big flowers circa 1972, dark brown paintwork and a dirty pink carpet. Under the brown gloss, was a mustard coloured gloss  And that was only 1 of the 4 bedrooms :rotfl:

When we moved into this house, the downstairs loo looked like it needed to go in a museum - again those big flower patterns but in olive green and brown, with 70's brown textured tiles and lime green paint  My friend assured me it was all coming back into fashion, but the paint fairy eventually came and got rid of it all.

My bright red swirly axminster (well, part of it) is now doing sterling work in the garage in front of my WM. Between that and the fushia curtains and stripey wallpaper, my eyes couldn't take it any longer.....that was the main living room.

Anyway, made cheesy fish pie for tea along with apple sponge and custard. I shall settle down with the ironing later to watch Judge John Deed (don't forget, CQ) I managed to get rid of the polystyrene balls (luckily not a major spillage) but they aren't half a !!!!!! to hoover up :D At least I can chuck it away if I want now. It was a pressie to me from my ex about 13 years ago, so don't really care :)

    Hope littlies are recovering well

    Hello everyone!

I am SO HAPPY it is Friday as I am totally knackered. The exams took it right out of me, I feel like I could sleep for a week. Unfortunately I can only manage about four hours at a time, so was awake half of last night as well practically climbing the walls desperate to sleep. Nodded off eventually but had to rush for work...on the way in realised I had been dreaming that I was married to Terry Wogan. Eeeek?!!

How awful that so many babies (and biggies) are so under the weather at the moment. Don't know how people cope sometimes - well done everyone for facing up to it and getting the babes through it.

B = nothing, was in too much of a hurry out the door
L = 2 packets of crisps, half litre of Diet Coke, a scone, a cup of coffee and a sit down in the staff room at work. Normally go home but was so sleepy decided not to drive, and if I had gone home would definitely have fallen asleep.
D = bowl of porridge. Will have some fruit later, maybe some scrambled eggs on toast.

I am ready to fall off my chair with fatigue. I really hope I sleep tonight, this is doing me no good at all. Will drink a gallon of camomile tea this evening.

C_Q, I can now see why you are so keen to get decorating done and out of the way...that is quite a combination you've got there...as the Birthday Girl says maybe taking the carpet away altogether may be the way to go for the time-being.

Holstar...your exams sound absolutely dreadful....I'm so glad to get mine out of the way....couldn't stick it if I had as many as you, would have jacked it in long ago.

Bye all, going to make a cup of tea.

    Evening!

Had another good day at work today, again complimented on performance by the boss (yey!) but didnt seem to manage to get an awful lot done today. I did take the lakeland catalogue with me and some of the girls want to order too, I must be subliminally brainwashing them all with talk of hm bread this, hm jam that. Im sure they think im nuts though!

Anyway, im off to tesco shortly for a few supplies (the stuff I forgot last night!) then Intend to spend the evening on my bum since I did loads of stuff yesterday and didnt even watch tv. Im downloading lost as we speak so its episode 10 tonight, and 11 tomorrow, just like PP!

A very good day here, took mum and dad shopping this morning as dad is having double vision and can't drive. Dad told me if there was anything I needed just to stick it in the trolley and he'd pay for it :D Then they bought me lunch and Mum gave me 550 quid to pay for the new tv package we ordered from the catalogue company before christmas :D

So I nipped straight into town to pay the money into the bank, got a free TD hand cream from Boots, got loads of lovely pink goodies from Lloyds chemist to set aside for DD's birthday for less than a tenner including a set of pink star lights. Then into Game station and got 2 bargain PS2 games for DH. Also found a new set of speakers for my PC (current ones had it) for 2.98 and got a strange disc which enables you to play any region DVD's on your PS2 for 2p. On the way out I spotted their second hand games consoles. Missed the Curry's ones at christmas but this was 11.99 with controller and leads, the guy behind the counter let me have 1 pre-owned game and 1 brand new game for a fiver for the 2 and a memory card for 49p. Now have one very ecstatic little girl :D

C-Q, do let us know if the banana crumble works - it sounds delicious

It got post-poned in the end as I had a house full of visitors (eldest two's dad and his family) so while the "men" got on with some decorating, me and his g/f had a good gossip over a bottle of wine ;)

She's going to come over tomorrow to take me to Homebase and CarpetRight to get the bits I need to finish off eldest's room, and she knows all about my agoraphobia and panic attacks so I know I'll be ok if I get a bit wobbly or can't manage it.

I've found a really yummy recipe though so will try it out on Sunday and let you know how it goes :D

The carpet has already gone :D ... and would you believe there was an even more hideous lino underneath it!!! :rotfl:

I did manage to salvage the underlay though, which still looks good as new, and the gripper rods are already in place so we just need a new carpet but the room's not very big (approx 3m x 2m) so won't be horrendously expensive, thankfully.

The wallpaper, curtains and nets have also gone and the decorating is almost completed ... just need to finish off a couple of bits, put up the aluminium blinds and lay a carpet now :D

    Hi all

CQ - your house is looking lurvely! Sounds like you've got the transformation under control though!

I had a right little sh** in my class today. She decided that she didn't want to come into the classroom after play at lunchtime. She's in care, with a lovely family, but decided to disrupt the whole afternoon. I was in a right flap, but all the other children were so calm. When she'd eventually been removed from the class (once she'd been dragged back into school....) and I thanked the children for being so "grown up" (they're Year 6, so still children) they said that they were used to it as they'd been in school with her for alot longer than I had.

After the school day had ended, I tried to book a hair appointment for next week. As I haven't been to the hairdresser round here since we moved, so my choice was based on what they looked like from the outside! I actually got a phonecall back from one that didn't have any space next week for this evening! The hairdresser was hilarious - once I'd got in there, I discovered that they didn't take debit or credit cards  They were really good and said that I could go and get some cash after I'd had my hair done. Anyway, it looks really nice and so much lighter (in weight). OH keeps pointing out that it's "no longer straggly". Hmmm, thanks.

OH is now putting his parents' new PC together. He got it cheap from one of his suppliers at work, and it's all singing, all dancing for not much dosh. We'll hopefully drop it off at their house tomorrow on our way up to see friends.

Just off to see whether we've won the Euro Millions :D
    Bye
