I am not an expert in financial matters so please treat my opinion as just that.
It struck me that, from your description, Icesave has closed your account. So maybe the FSCS system would not apply, in the same way that an account closed last year would not be covered by the scheme. I'm not saying that you are not owed the money, just that it could be said that the account did not exist when Icesave went down. Perhaps on that basis you are an unsecured creditor in the same way as a supplier etc (to Icesave) Good luck with your claim though. Hopefully I'm wrong.
I've just looked again at your post, and thought if it were me I'd enclose only a copy of the stopped cheque, as this may be the only evidence of your ISA's existence

My fixed term account had matured on 7/12/2008, and yet there is still no sign of the form.

Has anyone received one yet? Thanks.

I have not received any paper application as yet and my account matures on the 13/01/2008. I did the online process at least 3 weeks ago now.

This is scandalous - we are all being misled. If we had known we would have to wait so long for the forms, and then another 6 weeks for payment, a lot of us would probably have taken the electronic payment.

What is the significance of the bar code on the form? Is each form unique with its own bar code or is this just a generic bar code for that form?
If each claimant has their own personal bar code number, then sending in blanked out forms is just going to screw up the system and delay things.
Has anybody seen more than one of these forms to compare?

Having looked at the form from the one stored I can't understand why it is needed. They already know my account numbers, how much is in them (better than I do!), where I live and that I want them to go to maturity. What else is missing?

Yes, I've just checked again - fixed-term claim forms started to be sent last week should all be out by today. Strange that nobody has reported receiving one yet!

Absolutely, when they said we'd receive the forms 'soon' I thought they meant it! I don't see nearly 5 weeks waiting already as 'soon'.

Call me cynical but that is probably just what they wanted to avoid, I'd imagine what they are doing with regards Icesave is no small undertaking. Remember I don't believe this system has ever been used in anger in the UK, so it is a likely a learning curve for them too.

Hi all,

Just called FSCS again 2 mins ago. They said all fixed rate paper bond forms are sent out - last ones going out today and we should receive them before Christmas.

Our form has just arrived. Our bond is due to mature in June 2009. I notice the forms have to be returned to a warehouse in Darlington, well I live 4 miles away from there so I'm going having a shufty around!!

Who said Icesave have made me paranoid??
