Shame they couldn't have done the forms online as well, but we can't have everything, am not complaining.
Hope for the best.....Plan for the worst!

I've just spent ages talking to the FSCS about this. What I have found out is:

    1. Some forms were sent yesterday - the rest will all be sent "next week". Couldn't pin them to a date so assume Friday.

    2. Filling in a blank form such as the one posted here is fine - the 6 week processing time will run from date received. No chance of confusion to the system so nothing to lose sending one off now.

    3. They have given 6 weeks for the processing time as a maximum - they hope to get it doen to 3.
But I thought that they were not sending forms out until January once the electronic process had closed?

    Why did you think that?
This is an open forum, anyone can post and I just did !
  • I think that's for those who have not initiated on line

"The FSCS's online process will remain active until 30 December 2008. After that date, UK customers of Icesave who have not claimed will not be able to do so using the electronic process. In January 2009 FSCS will send a paper application form to those who have not transacted online."
  • You got further than me then. When I asked last week, it was a very wishy washy 'well you could try I suppose' so I did but have heard nothing since.
I think I will send a fresh one in light of your post since I now realise power of attorney documents are required too and I didn't include that last week. What a shambles!

FSCS warehouse/Royal Mail need to ready for a flood of MSE fixed rate applications first thing Monday morning I reckon after your post.;)

I agree - a complete shambles. I got the runaround too with the 'phone calls - passed first from London to Newcastle and then back to London.

Let's hope the flood of applications galvanises them. I'm sending another when the proper form arrives!
  • I'm going to do the same. I've printed off the 'barcode obliterated' one, and will post that tomorrow, then once the 'real' one arrives I'll send that too. At least I'll feel as though I'm doing something. Thanks everyone for all the help and advice

I am referring to the posting on the FSCS website ie..
"The FSCS's online process will remain active until 30 December 2008. After that date, UK customers of Icesave who have not claimed will not be able to do so using the electronic process. In January 2009 FSCS will send a paper application form to those who have not transacted online."

But I apologise if we are discussing different things.
    My problem is as follows:
I tried to transfer my ISA from Icesave to bradford bingley mid september - bb sat on the cheque for weeks before presenting it and it was returned to me unpaid. If they had cashed it when they received it all would be well. So I have also claimed compensation from them for lost interest.
The main issue is that these ISA funds are in limbo, presumably in some Icesave holding account. I did action the electronic process but the only account visible was my Easy Access account, the Isa account was not visible as of course from the Icesave perspective, it had been closed on the 17th September. I therefore did not complete the transaction at all, since I would have had to agree to an indemnity agreeing that by completing the process I accepted that this was in full and final settlement of my compensation.

The FSCS state that those who do not complete the electronic process by the end of December will be sent a paper compensation form in January. I indeed want a paper compensation form asap as presumably I will be then able to enter the Isa account details and enclose the stopped cheque etc.
However, I have tried several times already to request a paper form by telephone, by email and by webform as I concluded weeks ago that there would be a problem with this.
So far, despite promises on the telephone from the FSCS, I am still waiting.

Casabiosca, Yes we are mostly discussing Fixed term account where we have opted (electronically) to await maturity. Some of our accounts have now matured or will shortly. So we are seeking the same paper form as you, but referring to a different part of the website where they said they would send the form soon after we opted to wait. We obviously have "transacted on line" so your quote does not really apply. Sorry for any confusion, hope you (and we) get a form soon.
Looking again at your post, having glanced at the online FSCS form earlier I'm not sure that the form lends itself to your circumstances. Perhaps you are simply a creditor of Landesbanki as you have a bounced cheque from them?

    Thanks for posting the information.

The whole process is quite pointless, they have all the information needed and the consents required for those who went through the online process and opted to leave fixed rate accounts to mature. That 6 week process timescale should really start from when people completed the online process for their fixed rate accounts although I appreciate they have no control for how long someone might delay in returning the form. However could be some of us don't get a form till the new year given they are now getting mixed up with the Christmas mail

Thanks Bryanb - can you tell me in what respect you think I would be treated only as a creditor of Landsbanki given that the funds must be in a holding/suspense account awaiting the cheque being presented which would have been honoured except that our government froze Landsbanki assets?
