sold a phone on ebay - buyer having me on!!! EDIT: Now he's opened Paypal Dispute
Comments

I've sent him an Ebay message ... see wording a couple of posts up ...0

Excellent news he has dropped the claim against you.illegitimi non carborundum0

He has the same email address for the buying account and the selling account? That's impossible

I used the think that wasn't possible either but the same person purchased two items from me - I recognised the name and postal address.
The email quoted on their paypal payment is the same for both user IDs. He keeps the feedback on one of his user accounts private.0 -
About getting the feedback removed (and sorry if this is less than helpful - I haven't read the whole thread yet):
eBay's policy on feedback removal is deliberately incomprehensible. However, I know from experience that you can get the content (but not the negative rating) of feedback removed if it's slanderous and you inform eBay that you intend to sue. The guy's called you deceitful, thus impugning your character unfairly. Contact eBay by phone if you can (although email's better than nothing) and tell them that this person who is apparently running a scam is defaming your character and affecting your business, and tell them that you intend to sue for damages. They should remove the feedback content. Unfortunately, to get the actual rating removed you will have to provide eBay with a solicitor's letter, which would probably cost you a bomb.
As far as stopping the guy from scamming goes, eBay won't give a monkey's and are unlikely to be any help. Chances are he's using the cheap (especially with his dodgy-story discount) broken phones to obtain shiny new ones for free on another account. Good luck, and remember - eBay's response is usually one level below what you'd expect, and you won't get anything without a threat of legal action

First dip of my toes into this long thread.
Shaggy, it has puzzled me that you haven't asked this guy,
1. How is it uneconomical for him to return the phone, when you have offered to refund the cost plus postage? and,
2. Why he can't return the phone to you in the same condition he received it?
Ok, from all the posts, we have worked out that he will already have butchered it, but it would be interesting to see what he could say on that score.
Have to say, Ebay sounds a terrifying place to risk doing business!!!!0 -
At least Shaggy has a result here which to be honest i'm suprised at, not because he was right all along its becuase i thought you would zero help from Ebay.
i have sold lots of things i even sold a surf board to a surfer in Newquay. Now this is funny...........
sold surf board on ebay for £150 August bank holiday a few years ago.
buyer signed for it, the next day told us it was damaged and wanted money back, which i agreed on basis that photo evidence was supplied. looked at photo of surfboard tip and was damaged. Now did not get board back for 2 weeks after surf board championships had finished. i gave money back and when board was returned it was worthless sold it for scrap value £20.
buyer obviously bought it to use for championships, so did not need to hire one, when board was returned the dameage was different from photo damage, obviously a different board but similar colour.
too may scams on ebay these days, i rarely sell anything now only buy. Saying that sold 5 items this last week and everyone was happy. but its a rarity these days. All the big powers they've silenced me. So much for free speech and choice on this fundamental human right, and outing the liars.0 -
LOOOOOOOOOOL. Its all coming out now ...
The tables are now turning. He sent me this email in reply to mine from earlier:
=============================
Sir, I think you are totally paranoid. WHAT SCAM!!!!
I buy mobile phones with working lcd's to replace the phones I buy with broken lcd's. Its not rocket science...........It is just a shame that sellers say that the lcd's are working when in fact they are broken.
The only part usable then is the mainboard and that is why I ask for a part refund to reflect the value of that part.
I can not return it as I have used the front casing on another phone.
==============================
So he used the parts that were working on another phone, yet still wanted a refund? What an idiot. I havent finished with this guy yet although i wont be talking to him anymore. I'll be escalating to ebay asap.
He may well be perfectly genuine but before anyone tries to stick up for this guy, this is the first time he's told me what hes actually done with my phone. When he first talked to me all he said was 'he wants a part refund as keyboard is broken'... All the time I was insistent on him sending the phone back for a full refund but he wasnt having any of it, instead leaving me anegative because 'the screen is broken'. Well if the phone has so many darn faults send it back like i kept saying and you will have got your money back...IDIOT.
Finally, he raises a dispute on Paypal and says in the dispute 'he wants to return the phone for a refund'
But when he wins the dispute he closes it saying 'he cannot return it in the original condition; '
Total idiot. Refusing to co-operate with the seller by all means necessary. I havent finished with him yet ...
Little miss cheeky: any progress on your case with him? Has he raised a chargeback on Paypal yet?
PS: silkyuk, I am a HE, not a she :money:David_Aston wrote: »First dip of my toes into this long thread.

David, I have andwered question 2 already - see above ... he has just now told me he already dismantled my phone.
As for question 1: He knew his position of power on ebay from day one and tried to get me to agree to a part refund. I knew full well when he sent me a dodgy pic which wasnt my phone (see page 1 of this thread), that even if I agreed to his 'part refund' he will give me a negative anyway and probably claim a paypal refund after that for good measure, so why bother backing down ? All he kept replying to my demands to return the phone was 'its uneconomical' and the next thing i know he left a negative - at this point i thought its no point talking sense to this guy so i never bothered to ask what exactly he meant. No point now, I got a negative, and talking to him is a waste of time.
Actually thinking about it 'uneconomical' now means 'well I've dismamtled it and used some parts out of it so screw you'.0 -
