Hi Ya
Unfortunately you are unable to follow the really juicy threads about how slimey most (not all) of the firms using these products are. Sadly the mods caved into pressure from the scum-bag-rip-off- merchants and deleted them.
I am not necessarilly having a go at the mods- the threads did get pretty heated BUT none of the products were shown to have greater longevity than bog standard masonry paint.
You may want to look at the ifollowing if you can't find the answers here.
http://www.consumeractiongroup.co.uk/forum/ they let some of the conversations that were deleted here continue over there.
or
http://www.diynot.com/forums/viewforum.php?f=12 for general decorating advice
TBH I would expect most of the brands to be pretty similar with regard to longevity/performance but I am only guessing and have no first hand experience- nor will I ever (hopefully)!!!
Good luck0 -
Ok thanks found the info, a rare old mine field !!!
This Contractor sounded genuine , Yeh I know ?, Explained in great detail the difference, & put me on to the renotex web to see for myself,
looks ok, so hopefully there not all cowboys, Unless of course ?????
So
anyone know about Renotex ?0 -

She said they were looking at properties in my street that are older than 1930. I asked if she was representing the council or another local authority. She obviously had a script to stick to, but I just said I wasn't interested as I had heard of them before. She was a bit huffy but walked away. I have learned in the past from these kind of callers. Why do you need to advertise out of your own area? The reason would appear to be that they are cowboys and overpriced at that. Don't even entertain it.
my conversation with direct sales people doesnt last more than 3 minutes...if they dont get it politely that i m not interesed, before i slam the door on their face i remind them that they are walking in a private territory.
luckily i got a driveway;) and tell them to head to the road asap
dont know why people would waste 2-3 hours with them on phone etc0 -
coinshooter,
does your house need rendering or just a textured finish?
why not get a plasterer in and get a proper quote for genuine work.
instead of a marketing company.
a plasterer will be approx half that price of 5k.Get some gorm.0 -
no its allready rendered with a spar finish , just looks Dull0

i wouldn't bother , my nieghbour had his house done a few years ago at great expense , today it looks terrible with dirt and mould over it and it's started peeling
you would be better off just giving it a coat of paint0 -

andura guard are con men! They have been on crimewatch! I am desperately trying to find a link online to the page! I have also had them round my house today trying to flog me 'texturised coating' but have had them round to a previous address before. I was suspicious and they guy tried to pressure me to spend multi thousands. I saw a few weeks later the same company on crimewatch. I have reported this to the police and they are aware. Please do the same if they come to your house and do not waste multi thousands of pounds on a product which does nothing and funds con men who rip off vulnerable people!

Just to update this discussion, Anduraguard are now calling themselves Global Home Protection and they are using Hi marketing to do the cold doorstepping. Global H P are selling basically the same product and using the same selling methods. They are currently working in South Somerset. Avoid, I think.0
