Nice one, I've just got offered that one too :j (only with a cash card though). Does anyone know if Nationwide allow you to upgrade your account, after 6 months, if you leave a few quid in the account without using it much? I normally pay for most things with my HSBC debit card.
I opened my first flex account with cashcard in Jul. I set up one DD to pay my BT internet bill and only credited with about £100pm which was my spending money after payday.. If that helps! :)

Had a basic Flexaccount with these for around four years(at the time had very bad rating) now my files are very clean and show excellent history! Tried to get a full account a few times but always knocks me back....hardly use the account now as my main account is Natwest , who have given me everything (except servicecard250! ,I know thats shallow...) anyway as I travel abroad a few times a year really wanted the full account .

So maybe if I try as fresh application it may give me? although previously when I have applied it has asked for my exsisting account details?

Londonuk, I have mentioned before that apart from ONE late payment in Feb 08 I have a great history since I was 18 (3 yrs)... I have 5 CCs, 3 curr accounts - 2 with ODs and a mortgage...

It really depends on your personal circumstances. give it a go. I didn't get an instant decision online but you may do, who knows!!

    cheers for that Kavanne.
  • I think Nationwide are a bit funny and won't upgrade accounts that aren't used enough- as apparently it is based not on your credit rating overall but your one with Nationwide. One of their staff advised me to keep taking £200 out and paying it in and then i would probably qualify! (I couldnt be bothered )
It does annoy me to as the main reason as I am think if i open a new account i would get one- the reason i didnt when i opened this one is that i was 16.

Update, my new flex account is now appearing online, just waiting for my card to arrive. I am just dreading it arriving to find they've changed their mind and it's a cash card!! lol

In my experience, they are awful.

I gave in the form in branch to add an additional cardholder to my CC with them (so my bf could use it when he went to Bulgaria) but they lost it, however their CC centre kept telling me it was processing and to wait. So a week before it still had not arrived and they said no way could they do a new app by then..

But I'm stuck between a rock and a hard place, aren't? No one else provides the same service on debit cards :(
