Do they normally give you an instant decision?
Well when I applied for my first flex account they did. It came up going 'We can offer you a cash card and no cheque book, do you wish to proceed?' But not this time :( Better than flat out NO that I got when I tried to ask for an OD though. Says they will let me know within 5 working days...

Hmm, I just checked today and the website says 'waiting for ID/Signature' instead of 'Submitted for Processing'. If I call them will they be able to tell me if it's cash or debit card or is that not decided until I have signed the forms?

I was told on the "Offer" screen - the very last part of the application. It also said what I would receive in the very first sentence of the "ID/Signature" letter - this took about 3 working days to arrive.

Yeah it didn't give me the offer screen, it got referred. So it looks like so far my application has been ACCEPTED but as I never got given the 'offer' screen I don't know what my facilities are :(

My only ever credit issue is that I was 2 wks late paying my nationwide CC in Feb 08 as the bill was lost in the post and I'd not set up a DD (Since been paying it by DD). I opened a flexaccount in Jul and only got a cashcard :(

It might have been the late payment affecting their internal scoring? But seriously, my credit is impeccable apart from my age (just turned 21)

I've just receive my form to sign and they've given me the 07-02-46 sort code - which accepts faster payments!

Nice one, I've just got offered that one too :j (only with a cash card though). Does anyone know if Nationwide allow you to upgrade your account, after 6 months, if you leave a few quid in the account without using it much? I normally pay for most things with my HSBC debit card.
