I think that BSM used to recommend twice your age so at 17 you would need 34 hrs; at 25 you'd need 50hrs etc
Looks like it's changed now "The Driving Standards Agency recommend that learners should have about 40 hours of lessons and another 25 hours of practice to be ready for the test"
I started learning at 21, but then stopped as I was going back to Glasgow and the public transport there is so good (or it was). I had had about 20 hours lessons. At 23 I had another 25-30 hours in 2 hour sessions, and passed second time (a few weeks after my first test). My tip would be to have two hour lessons (with a break in the middle) and take as long as it needs. Yes money is an issue, but if you stress and try to do things too quick, then you end up taking longer (and waste money) iykwim.

    Evening folks

Still feeling c**p, done nothing what so ever this week.

I was all I could do last night to cook us something, then I never really enjoyed it, as I cannot taste anything.

I am going to attempt to do some house work tomorrow, other wise the place will become a tip.

I will be around trying to read what you have all been up to.

Take care all hugs for those that need them.

  • Lil_me - dress hasn't arrived yet and she's panicking now because someone has told her that only 150 are allowed to go to the end of year Ball. I think in the Grown Up World that's called "Discrimination"! DS has (technically) been in Year 11 three times and hasn't been to one, so he will be going this year, with GF. She is a nice girl. She's inclined to be moody at times and will take it out on DS, but if I happen to be around, I tell her straight that she can offload on us, but mustn't blame him. It's usually because her mother has been needling at her about something or other. eg If he cancels going round because he doesn't feel well, she'll tell GF it's because he doesn't really care about her!

Oh well, not long now and she won't need to worry about her, if she doesn't want to.

    :hello:

Morning all. Had a sh!te week - again!! Got called in to work on my days off, but am trying to think of the extra money . . .

    Pink - isn't Abergavenny in a song???

Anyone care to update me with goings on??

    Since getting up at 5.45 - yes - on a Saturday!!!! - I've :
Got one load of washing done
    Second load is in WM
    Emptied kitchen bin
    Done weekly menu
    Done grocery list
    Folded towels from Thursday
    Showered
    Just finished breakfast
    Played with dogs

Now I'm off grocery shopping. Think shop opens at 7.30am, so I'm going to be waiting at the door!

Will try and catch up later.

  • Hi supergirl - how are you feeling today - hope its a better day than yest - i was thinking of you earlier and remembered you had kiddlywinks at home - that was nice of grandma to help out and give you a wee bit peace. I am suitably impressed with you doing you SOA - michelle was looking into her budget for next year too - I must do the same as my outgoings have changed a bit - its a scary job though:eek:
kazw - the house and mess will still be there - look after yourself first and dont go overdoing it yet! xx
carol honey you sound so much brighter in your post - I am so pleased to see you are getting help from your OH and Mum the GP (thats handy!!) has put you straight. As for Uni at least you have made the first step and possibly in a few days this bad spell will have passed and you will be on top of things again - see your mentor has been there tooo so its not just you that gets overwhelmed!!! Well done on all fronts - enjoy your weekend now!
    mummy2
Strip bedding and wash it - done now on line and the girls are in WM
dont you have a shower then ??????? :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:
HHI is half hour ironing - you get all the abbreviations on the first post.

ashia well you have taken the hardest step by arranging counselling - yes it is strange speaking to a stranger but sometimes it is a whole heep easier as they have no connection to any of your issues, you can explain to them why things dont feel right and they dont judge you like friends and family might!
Will be sending you very best positive vibes for your first session and hope you get someone you can talk comfortably with.

thriftyscotslass its a nice feeling seeing the fruits of your hard work isnt it? you are doing very well with the flying for someone poorly - dont be overdoing it now - and that was really really inconsiderate of you giving it to your DH - LOL dont you know that these things are always so much worse for men!!!!!!!!!!!!!! How could you be so mean!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

  • OrkneyStar - "You've never lived unless you've been on the Glasgow Underground" - I used to live in Anderston City Centre (APs were the Officers in charge so we had a flat above the premises) and I worked in Boots in Govan, so pre-motorbike I used to get the underground. Then we lived in Broomhill, then Stirling, then I went to school in Norway for a year, back to Stirling for a while then the APs went back down to England and I lived in and worked in a care home in Edinburgh. (That's 6 addresses!)
