what will they offer when they are threatened with bad press etc. !!

Hmmm, you've just given me a vision of my camera being delivered in a limo with a page 3 model wiggling here finger for me to get into the back.

The good news: 5600 just arrived, it was delivered by TNT, I signed for it and away the guy went.

Bad news: There's no SD card in the box.

What this site needs is a crying with frustration emoticon!

RedonRed or anyone else who's received the 5600 - where exactly was the SD card? I've been through everything, no success.

Can anyone who's received a 5600 tell me if the card came seperately? Thanks!

Yeah, but I might be prepared to overlook that under the circumstances.

By the way, i've rang Apple again saying that some people are getting the 5600 price mactched with 5200. A CS guy asked around a bunch of supervisors who all concluded that's unheard of.

So unless I can find out the supervisor's name that has approved this offer, I will only be getting the initial offer.

Calling choc (what's your name) who was the supervisor that approved the price match?

The 5600 is one of the cameras suggested in the "best cameras" section on steves-digicams.com which says quite a lot.

Check out the "bottom line" for each and bear in mind that the 5200 was around about a year earlier than the 5600.

(hopefully these short extracts don't break copyright)

    5200:
the Coolpix 5200 is a great all-around camera. This camera will please the less experienced as well as the intermediate user and thanks to its compact size and light weight, you can carry it almost anywhere. And if you like to record movies, you'll love the ability to record VGA-size (640x480) videos at 30fps with audio - just make sure that you have a large SD card. Its 5 megapixel Fine images have plenty of resolution to create photo-quality prints up to 13x19-inch. I feel this would be a great camera for the family, business, or "tourist" user and with all of its scene modes, you'll always be ready to capture that special moment, no matter what the shooting conditions are.

    5600:
Aimed toward the beginner and intermediate user, it offers terrific images without having to fuss with complicated settings. Its 5-megapixel Fine images have sufficient resolution to create photo-quality prints up to 11x14-inch, or cropped prints of lesser size. If you want to take great photos at an affordable price and don't plan on recording many movie clips, the Nikon Coolpix 5600 will make a great choice and offers a great value with an MSRP of under $300. If you like the features of the 5600 but don't need 5-megapixels of resolution or sound during movies, take a look at its 4-megapixel "little bother" the Coolpix 4600, which costs about $100 less

"without having to fuss with complicated settings", sounds like a euphemism for not having many features !!
