Personally I think they are covered T&C wise not to have to do anything. The only other thing that they could be legally obliged to do is give you an equivalent camera at a negotiated rate - which they are prepared to do.
At the end of the day, annoying as it is, the 5200 is no longer available. We can either mope about it or get an equivalent camera at a great price.
I've received countless apologies and am now getting a heavily specially reduced camera from them. That's good enough for me.
The 5600 has a plastic body compared to the metal 5200 and is lacking in some of the features, they have offered a 7600 with a discount but it has some of the worst reviews I have read on the web for a digital camera.
I just want them to honour the 5200 @ 90quid by allowing me to purchase it elsewhere and giving me the difference0 -

After accepting, it got dispatched last night and arrived this morning! They're going to credit the difference back to the credit this afternoon. Tried to post yesterday but the just didn't have the time with the server being slow, sorry. hope this helps and good luck to everyone else.
Well done !! .. but I think the 5600 is of inferior quality compared to the 5200
Their response suggests that they know they are in the wrong0 -

But this is not what has happened, they haven't changed their minds or decided not to supply the goods, they are just unable to get hold of the stock. If the item cannot be sourced and they genuinely cannot obtain it, where does this leave them?
I'm not tryting to be funny, but I'm just curious what the law would be...0 -

Where else can you buy a 5200 without it being either a refurb or grey import?0 -

Unless anyone cares to prove otherwise, IMHO the T@C's Apple have clearly cover them in cases such as this and IMHO anyone who passes up the 5600 at a £50 discount to obtain a better settlement elswhere, should, one hopes, be able to prove me wrong.
If one notes that the 5600 at £99.99 comes with a 256mb memory card worth approx £10, The 5600 is effectively being supplied at the same price as the 5200.The MSE Dictionary

I think you may find that the 5600 is considered to be the equivalent (in fact the successor to) the 5200. If this would to go to court I would be amazed if Apple wern't seen to be doing the best they could do by offering an equivalent for the same price as the 5200 (which they cannot obtain).0 -

I suggest you read the reviews of the 5200 and 5600
I wouldn't expect the plastic-bodied 5600 to be as resiliant as long as the metal-bodied 52000 -

What isn't made of plastic nowadays?
Every phone i've had has been plastic and most of the interior of my car is too, but does that make it inferior?
Anyway, metal is heavier and more likely to pick up a dent then a simple cosmetic scratch.0 -

I have read a number of reviews and have yet to find one that suggests as you do that the materials used in the cameras construction is a negative point?..... After all plastics have been used in cameras for years, including the likes of the EOS-1V
which is/was arguably (we don't need a debate) the best/fastest/most reliable/most durable camera ever made.
