Sorry, didn't get a name, but tell them that you know for sure that someone got £35 goodwill discount and make sure that they give you an 'Issue' number. I think that the fight has gone out of them :beer:I only exist in my own mind - if you can see, hear or read me, you are a product of my imagination.0

My order was cancelled rang them up. Told them i hadn't received a caneccation e-mail, which i haven't. Told them i have a order confirmation with expected delivery within 4-6 weeks which i have. So i was just enquiring as to what was going on. Got the explination that they had no stock, went into how could they take orders blah blah, you know the script.
Told him that i'd bought a memory card and a carry case, i have just purchased a memory card but it wasn't for this camera, and was going to get a case. He was a bit stuck, he came back to me and asked me how much i had paid, well i did add a bit more on for the memory card that is currently on it's way to me from https://www.7dayshop.com just guessed at the case. I said a fiver +postage cause i think that is what i remember reading.
he went of came back to me and said that as a good will gesture they will refund £34 into my account for inconvience. They hope that this will cover the cost of the products i had purchased and i can also as a good will gesture keep the products.
I then asked who do i send the reciepts to as i only have a confirmation e-mail for the memory card. And i was beginning to get worked up, as my fib to get my camera was back firing on me. he went of and came back and said no problems they don't want a receipt for anything. Because of the inconvience they would not want me to go to the trouble of e-mailing them the receipts. The fella just appologised again, he gave me a reference number regarding the refund.
To be honest i just wanted a camera, as i thought that it was a good deal and i have received £100 of a relative for christmas and thought that it would be a nice treat.
I wouldn't have minded being offered Nikon 5600+Kingston 256 SD card for £115, a discount of £35. But i don'tthink that he was going there.
Hubby was listening to me on the phone and loking at me especially as i hadn't purchased a camera case.
But i wish i had received the camera for £89 instead.0 -
A customer service girl has just rang me back offering me 10% off any purchase with them "as a goodwill gesture and they don't really have to give anything".
I too want £35 off a 5600! So i've asked to speak to a supervisor who will hopefully be ringing me in the next four hours.0 -

Update: A supervisor rang me back and immediately agreed that she wouldn't have a problem giving me £35 off a 5600. I couldn't help saying that if i'd known she was going to be so quick to say yes to £35 I would have asked for a £100 off...lol.
That's weird...how come most of this posted twice...soz.0 -
It's going well, then
They don't offer solutions - you have to, as it were, give them the idea!I only exist in my own mind - if you can see, hear or read me, you are a product of my imagination.0 -
Trouble is I don't particularly want a 5600. I don't like the idea of using AA batteries with a Digital Camera, and someone on a newsgroup said its plastic rather than metal (but they may be wrong).
I think I'll write a letter instead of ringing.0 -
so I won't be getting my 5200. Are there any other good deals out there in the sales ? Thanks for any recommendations.0

Saint_Chris, I am puzzled by your comment "But i wish i had received the camera for £89 instead". You entered into a legally binding contract with Apple, received a receipt via email and probably got a dispatch date like everyone else.
It was Apple that broke this contract, NOT YOU. - They are a multi-billion $$ company, they can easily find additional stock !!
If they genuinely ran out of stock, why did it take them 2 days to send the email out ???
If you wanted the camera for £89, you shouldnt have given in to their alternative - they are obviously very keen to find an easy solution for themselves.
I am sure that they will back down

Hi, I'm a newbie to this group
A couple of questions ..
1 - What is the best way to find out if Martin spoke to BBC Watchdog or Apple ?
2 - What is the legal position for anyone that "bought" a 5200, received an email receipt and a delivery date ?0 -
