Rather annoyingly considering I put it in the e-mail tip, it seems many people are finding that once they order this item from Apple, after ordering and money being debited they are then being told the order has been cancelled. As such I wanted to put this warning in. This happens occassionally with high demand. It is a very poor show by the Apple store. I know BBC Watchdog are looking at this and I'm chatting to them about it - please be very careful.

PS. Tesco has a £50 5Mb digital camera on sale, though it doesn't have the optical zoom this one had..... see this
Would Watchdog really look into this kind of thing? I don't think that they are all that bothered as I remember about a year ago, a lot of us wrote into Watchdog about ebuyer doing something very similar with a large screen tv. They too took money off our credit cards before declaring that the item could not be supplied and refunded us. I would be very surprised if this ever makes it onto tv. However for you guys, I hope it does.0 -

I wouldnt be surprised if it makes it. Similar things have made it many times before. Also they have contacted ML..0 -
My camera was due to be delivered yesterday (4th Jan) and they took funds from my account on 3rd Jan. As my order had been confirmed and people online had received theirs, I bought the camera case on eBay for £4.99.
Case arrived today before my order cancellation email arrived. Not happy with Apple Stores. I'd have expected more from Apple. I have emailed watchdog with the details as well.0 -
Isn't the most annoying thing that it's taken them a week to work out they've got no stock on an item that said would be "shipped in 24 hours", which they never had stock of anyway.0

I got the cancellation email too, at 15:30 yesterday. This is nearly 7 hours after they cancelled it online without informing me. Now I have a spare battery and case for a camera I don't own!
Interesting post by Jimmy_The_D on thedvdforums;Just spoken to a very pleasant lady called Tanya at Apple, who informed me that the situation has been (in her words) a complete mess but that I will be receiving an email by 6pm, detailing an alternative camera around the same price. When I stressed how astonished I was that a company like Apple were so unprofessional as a retailer, she also recommended that I complete the feedback form offered in the email since she had known of consumers, who had complained in the past, being compensated by Apple. Apologies if this has been mentioned earlier in the thread but am at work and so do not have time to look through it.Tesco Deals Vouchers : £1500 in deals used towards Florida 2010 honeymoon and £318 towards Wedding rings in Goldsmiths - Thanks to all Tesco points savers who helped me along the way! :beer:0 -

If anybody does receive this alternative camera offer, please can it be posted so we can all see how wonderful the offer will be.0 -
Could this alternative be the Nikon Coolpix 5600. It's on their site at £149 with a free Kingstone card. After alot of complaining Apple offered to give me a good will gesture of £50, so if they decide to give this offer to everyone with a cancelled order it would make the Nikon 5600 about the same price. I've read the spec but I'm a total layman and a bit baffled if someone could explain the differences in lay terms it would be much apprecaicated. I'd really like to be able to take short movie clips with sound and I can't work out if the do this and for how long.
Thank you0 -
