I suppose so. It's just that i've virtually never read a bad review for a Canon camera but have read many for Nikons. Although the 5200 was a good one.

In fact reviews for the Nikon Coolpix 5600, which is the next alternative/equivalent to the 5200 has had some pretty off-putting reviews.

Apple CS called me back and advised the 5200 is just currently out of stock and not discontinued. They don't know when it will come back in and whether it will be the same price. The camera was an exceptional price with the next cheapest price elsewhere being about £30 more for a refurb.

I've just checked the Apple website and my order for the Nikon has been cancelled. I call the helpline and they informed me the "end of line" camera is now out of stock!!!!
    BOO-HOO.

Can anyone recommend a digital camera around the same price????

Only 4meg but maybe worth it.

I am half glad they cancelled my order - I have a 3100 and batteries last for a few shots despite being conditioned etc etc. More research shows that the 5200 wasn't great.

Edit: Fresh from my inbox a good sounding deal:

PLEASE NOTE: Review is based on £140 and I assume No FREE Charger, No FREE Rechargable batteries and No FREE Case.

Note also.... For those of us who bought SD cards, this camera takes them. :)

P.S: I would take the EBuyer reviews with a pinch of salt... Two very clear, concise reviews without a single typo or grammatical error speaks volumes. (IMHO) ;)

With regard to your recent order, we regret to inform you that the item

    on the Apple Store

There is currently no replacement available and despite our efforts to obtain this item for you, we unfortunately had to cancel this product from your order.

So whats the opinion on the Acer camera? is it a thumbs up or down?

Oops...just noticed that someone posted the same camera above but at empiredirect. Cheaper at Amazon though, and free delivery.

Just rung, ordered another and have got an order number. When I asked, was assured that it would be shipped by tomorrow night and as I type this, have had a confirmation e-mail.

Will update Watchdog with the latest. ;)

I got the Acknowledgement of order e-mail at 11.41 and then the Confirmation e-mail for the second one at 12.01, which stated that the camera would be shipped tomorrow; I then checked and found that they had debited my card. At 17.19, I've had an e-mail telling me that my order has been cancelled.

So they took the order for the second camera, and debited my card, AFTER they told eveyone, including me, that they were cancelling the first orders. Watchdog are really going to love this............. ;)
