If you want a stable platform then you should use either Linux or a Mac. Windows is extremely unreliable and has an awful inteface in comparison to a Mac.

Having said that I am using a windws machine as we speak.

By the way the Mac Cube is old and is unlikely to have OS X on it, try that and you will see what I mean.

Not sure what Mac it was, but it was a new model, and it was a small cube type thing.

And as you say, Windows has been unstable in the past, but I think you'll find that XP is incredibly reliable as long as the hardware its run on is sound.

XP is a vast improvement, not perfect but what is.

Biggest problem with XP is the security aspects and the plain fact it is so memory hungry, as are most Microsoft programmes. Lazy prgrammers.

come on this aint a thread about mac vs xp. I will be emailing apple tonite in discust. Had 2 snotty guys from there CS and poor communications about my order. I was going to buy a ipod but with that sort of attitude they have just lost a customer.

Ditto, lol the only one beneftting from this is the guy selling the cases on eBay, might be an inside job with his nephew working for apple. Seriously though what a complete joke apple is. Thier systems are probaly running some backend (backward?) apple / linux mix. Still accepting orders when its obvious they dont have the stock must hosting their site on the B&Q servers!

The only thing thats keeping them afloat are all those suckers that buy their crappy overhyped iPods.

Hmm, anyone have any pointers for a 5m digicam that will fit into a Nikon case?

I am in exactly the same situation with having had a confirmed order cancelled. I have spent some time this morning on the phone to apple, trying to get clear information about what is going on. I have also ordered over £100 of accessories from other suppliers for the 2 cameras I ordered.

I am very annoyed already, but the worst of it is that they still are selling this camera on their website as available within 24hrs.
It's over two hours since I spoke to them and they said they didn't have any cameras to fufill the order.
Filling in watchdog form right now.

Ordered one this morning at 9.45, and got an email from Apple confirming acceptance of order at 10.22. No further communication from Apple as yet.

Just rung, ordered another and have got an order number. When I asked, was assured that it would be shipped by tomorrow night and as I type this, have had a confirmation e-mail.

Will update Watchdog with the latest.

Just called Apple CS and was told there are no more cameras available despite my confirmation of order. I asked when I would be informed about this only to be told that I would get an email "within 24 hours". What a joke. I shall be calling Watchdog.

Just checked the order at Apple it appears they have cancelled the order.
