I'm not saying that anyone should necessarily only buy the card i've posted. What i'm saying is the faster the card someone gets the better the camera will generally perform in all functions.

A lot of people with slower cards sometimes report lag and a slowness in the camera recyling to a ready state.

Additionally, the camera may well not be able to capture at 20mb/sec but a USB 2.0 card reader may be able to transfer at that speed.

Basically you're better off with a faster card then a slower one. Does that not make sense?

    Hi Red!
I hear where you're coming from. The problem is that whilst the 133x SD cards are fully backwards compatible, the Nikon camera in question will not be able to fully exploit the capabilities of the 133x card. A 66x SD card will be more than fast enough to handle video capture on this camera, so it may be just as well to buy one of these at around £20. The shutter lag/recycle times between shots using a 66x card will be largely due to factors other than data write speeds.

As for faster reading/writing from an external card reader ... well, in one magazine's review of the Kingston Ultimate 133x SD card it was said that the reviewers were unable to find a fast enough card-reader to test the transfer speeds of the card!!! The testers were only able to test at 31x read speeds because that was the limit of the card reader produced by Kingston!! Anyway, faster read/write ability using an external card reader doesn't necessarily enhance the function of the Nikon 5200 camera itself!

I don't mean to pooh pooh your suggestion. It's a great idea if you're looking for something a bit more future-proof and which you intend to use in your next 'pro-quality' camera ;) , but for Moneysavers wanting to save a bit of money just bear in mind that a 66x SD card will be just as good with this camera (...hey, up until 6 months ago the 66x SD card was just about the fastest available, lol ;) ).

Erm.... Having just logged on to check the order status of the two 5200's I ordered.... I find the order has been cancelled.... GGGGGRRRRR

Naturally the nice lady at Apple has not got a clue why, (although I expect it's the Olymus E1-ZML connection), but she will endeavour to find out.

Once she provides an explanation c/w apology.... I'll say my piece. ;)

Mine's been cancelled too. Even though the camera is still on their site stating "shipped within 24 hours".

It's all very confusing as the person on the phone couldn't seem to understand that it wasn't related to the Olympus camera that they sent us e-mails about in error yesterday.

My Coolpix order was cancelled too, after the email saying my order for an Olympus was going to be cancelled, then another email saying ignore the previous email. What a farce! I won't be buying from Apple again.

Apple store are usually very good.

As for their computers being second fiddle to IBM compatibles, there is no contest between the two. One you've used an Apple you would never go back to a PC.

Aren't they pound for pound more expensive and often have to use their own bespoke software?

Can't say i've ever used one, but what makes them so good then? Apart from that they look better?
