Just wanted to say thanks for all this useful discussion - I've just bitten the bullet and ordered one! (Thanks Dad for sending me a £100 cheque for Christmas!)

For those who already have theirs, has delivery been fairly prompt?

I'm sorry, but you miss my point. That's a standard SD card.

I'm saying get a fast SD card. The one I link to is 133x, so the camera wil write to the card quicker and perfom faster and better.

There's always going to be cheaper options then the card I show, but they may well be slower cards.

OK - and noted with thanks. Worth paying the extra tenner!

If you intend only to take single still photos at a time then a standard SD card will be fine. If you want to take video clips or shoot extended continuous shots then a 50x or 66x card will be better.

As the limiting factor is going to be the speed at which the camera is able to capture images, there may be no advantage to having a 133x rated memory card. The 133x cards write at 20MB/sec, but this camera isn't able to capture images at that rate!

EDIT: Just to say I got my camera this morning. Thanks to the OP!

give lots and you will always recieve lots
  • My mistake thinking back the orders I've received from Apple have all been TNT not DHL.
  • How do they get all the deliveries, they are far worse than the normal postal service.

I'm not saying that anyone should necessarily only buy the card i've posted. What i'm saying is the faster the card someone gets the better the camera will generally perform in all functions.

A lot of people with slower cards sometimes report lag and a slowness in the camera recyling to a ready state.

Additionally, the camera may well not be able to capture at 20mb/sec but a USB 2.0 card reader may be able to transfer at that speed.

Basically you're better off with a faster card then a slower one. Does that not make sense?
