Windows XP should see and work happily with this camera when you connect it. It will appear as another disk drive under My Computer. It's possible that the bundled software will be Mac only, but, to be honest, the software bundled with cameras isn't usually very good anyway, so you might not be missing much.

Software supplied with camera also supports Windows XP.

some cameras you press the button halfway, then it fires as soon as you press it further

If you press the button half-way then press all the way it shoots instantly, i've just tried it!.

The usual wait after pressing the shutter button is for the auto focus to do it's job, but when you half press it, it s then pre-focussed, so shoots instantly.
Hope this helps.
Also the software is XP compatible and is called Picture Project, you also get a panorama program and nikon fotoshare.

It doesn't come with a case, but on ebay I found what appears to be a genuine Nikon leather case for £4.99 delivered. Just type 'Nikon Coolcase' into the search box.
