  • Oh and this is something I really don't want to do but..... I'm applying for Saturday/Sunday Xmas Temporary Work at Primark :( Would much prefer to work in a bar but beggars can't be chosers!!!

In case anyone else is interested you can find application form on their webpage and post to your local store - could be a few extra pennies for Xmas presents... or just more money to come off the debt!! It's only 8 hours so hoping that'll mean I'd just have to work the one day if I got it!?

I have just applied for some more bar work off gumtree though so lets hope I hear back from them first !!

  • Hi Elizabeth, I came across your diary yesterday and have read it from start to finish. It's so interesting seeing you in the beginning completely swamped with payments all over the place and not knowing what you're doing, to getting it under control and being positive, to having a wobble, to finally sounding really really positive again! I think this is the pattern for a lot of debt free journeys, hardly anyone pays off the full lot without going back on themselves a little bit.

Really glad you seem to be coming out the other side now though and I'll be following with interest, you've made me feel motivated with my savings! Have fun this weekend and good luck with Primark (do they do staff discount? It would be practically free!) Here's to a debt-free 2010!

  • thanks - from reading other people's diaries I realised that a lot of people slip up sometimes.. it's just a case of getting back in the right frame of mind :)

Well I haven't sent off the Primark application yet - had a brilliant weekend though, work was really fun - we were catering so had to make up loads of sandwiches and then ended up serving tea and coffee all day - also got free breakfast and lunch as well as earning £120 so if it wasn't for having to get bus it would of been NSD's!!

With regard to the bus I think one of my things to do this week is find my bike pump and sort out my bike - would have taken as long as bike as on bus I think and saved me about £6 in total!!

Hopefully if anymore work comes up with those guys though then I might be asked again - might send an email just to confirm to them I am interested! Going to update my signature and check my bank balance now... and then a quick check of jobs on gumtree :)

sounds like a brilliant weekend, when do you start at the pub. you'll back into the debt fighting full force aren't you!
  • Well just paid to renew 5 pay day cheques - £75 :( depressing, but at least 3 of them are gone this month - can't wait for them to come out of my bank so I can update my status to show the debt coming down! Think my Vanquis should be under as well as didn't realise but have been paying back by DD as well as by bank transfer so should hopefully be less then my status shows! Have brought food for lunches all week and bread for breakfast and am left with £40 to put in my bank (too big a queue today!)

Still not sure I've got pub work yet - thought it'd be easier to find something with my experience but guess jobs are rare these days! So need to get on ebay or something quick to make up that extra £80 I've set myself!!

  • I've been offered a days work on the 20th in London as well - only trouble is start time is 730am!! Difficult to get from Birmingham to London to that time without it costing a bomb!! Going to see what can be done about transport now...

I love a good plan - it may not work.... but I love a good plan!
  • Thanks I might of worked it out... I can get £15 return on National Express.. coach leaves Birmingham at 3am.. I'm going out for a friends 30th birthday that night so I could not drink and just get straight on the coach.. arrive at 6.20am and start work 7.30am. I'd get £65-£70 for the day so would still be £50 and could sleep on the coach... think I'm going to do it!!
