I know - I almost don't know what to do with myself once I'm debt free? Really hope that it sticks this time! It'll be so nice to be in a position where there's no interest going anywhere and my money is my own!! My plan is to save up a deposit for a 50% mortgage on my property (I rent off my parents) a managable first step on the property ladder. I like where I am and living by myself, I'm starting to feel a bit more pride in myself than before as well! Will be nice to spend a bit of money on some expensive make up, maybe go to a hairdresser, all the stuff I haven't done for ages!! But until it's paid off well I'll just have to wait!
And Nat - you should definitely sort out starting your own teamOr are you anywhere near the Swale Skate Bombshells? It's addictive!! Really would recommend anyone having a go!! Will catch up on everyone's diaries soon - been real busy at work and have this weekend up in Scotland at this free festival so!!

Elizabeth, we started our DFW journey within a day or so of each other and I can honestly say I'm so proud of what you and I have both achieved in the last 20 or so months! Congratulations my friend, you are doing fantastically!
Take care!0 -
Hey,
I've actually come back online for some help on giving counter notice during my redundancy period, but memories have come back! Is such a great place and I think everyone was such a help in supporting me. More so than people in real life sometimes!!
I think the biggest thing I learnt was saying no, and enjoying spending time at home on my own for free.
A quick update on how things are, well I'm DEBT FREE. I've been in a higer paid (£6K more!) job for about 18 months and the extra money has meant that I could just wipe out that last bit of debt. Has been a busy year and a half. Have redecorated my bedroom and the spare bedroom, which has made my house more a home. Bought myself a new TV and some extra channels. Those 2 things have meant that I literally spend most of my time at home happy, tidying and enjoying not spending. I no longer have any expensive holidays, and friends who put pressure on me to spend (else I wasn't a real friend) have been disregarded.
I've been in a position to try and help others (putting up for free in my spare room) however I've learnt that it doesn't work and that you have to take this journey on your own.
I think above all else, I don't regret ever being in debt, I think that everything I went through to get out has made me appreciate what I have even more and I don't think I'll ever be in a position where I will get that way again (fingers crossed!)
Oh and regarding the redundancy…. I've actually got myself a new job (only 12 month contract) but it's a step up/promotion so I am getting 12 month experience in a role that in reality above me. I got the opportunity purely on the fact no-one is going to leave a job for a 12 month contract so I'm really excited to be thrown in the deep end and learning so much. Hopefully then I will be able to command an even better, well paid job at the end of it!!
Hope everyone is good, I'm going to catch up on some of the old diaries, maybe they'll be a few people here I remember, though hopefully most will be gone and debt free now themselves.
xxxxxx

Your new job prospect sounds amazing... from little acorns.. and all that jazz!
I agree that having debt (and most definitely getting rid of it.. although I am a long way of yet!) makes you a stronger person... definitely makes me value things differently.
Oooh, hows the roller-discoing????
