Hello skier girl and congratulations on joining the stampers world
If you would like to stamp on acetate or a non-porous surface such as plastic you will need a solvent stamp such as Staz-On. Staz-on is quite expensive (about 6 pounds) but a stamp pad will last you a long time (I have had mine for 2 years!)
If you would like to try some embossing then you need a pigment ink pad. The ink stays wetter longer with one of these so that you have time to sprinkle on some embossing powder. You then tip off the excess and hold a heat gun at a 45 degree angle around 5 inches away from the image until the powder melts.
For plain stamping any ink pad will do really but I can not recomment Staz-on enough because it gives a really crisp image and is just worth every penny.:xmastree:Self Certified Christmas Addict:xmastree:0 -
When I make my cards, I always write (really neatly) - Handmade by Caroline, (Month, Year), so that they know that I have spent the time making their card.
Does anyone else do this or, use labels/stamps, 'cos I've been wondering whether to get any labels made up like these:

Thanks for any recommendations.2016 is the year I am going to find time for me, and cherish the time I spend with my friends and family. It is also time to save - Aim £4,000 - So far this year - £230/£4,0000 -
Oh good - I've found the thread again and bookmarked it :j There are so many talented people here - thanks for sharing your ideas with us all.
Just been watching the craft hour on QVC on cardmaking - their kits etc are too pricey for me, but I like watching so that I can pick up ideas.
Made most of my own christmas cards this year, so I was well pleased
Look forwards to joining in more in the thread!

hi Pam I taped QVC whilst at work and I'm sitting here watching it now (I tried ideal world but didn't find it as interesting and didn't like the cards etc they were making). i really loved the box set with all the paper/cards/kits/albums! I actually thought it wasn't too bad for what you get but not sure I really need it!! My DD age 10 would love the pink kit!0 -

Hello CT19720
If you have access to a pc could you not make your own labels?
I 'make' most of my cards on the pc to start with, printing the verse etc and add embellishments to the front last of all. So, my back page is usually printed.
I am at work now so can't go into much detail but can add more info later on how to do labels if you need it.0 -

Hi Marg,
I do have access to a computer, and tend to buy the blank pre-folded card in envelopes that come in a pack. The size of the card tends to be 1/2 a page of A4 folded, so not easy to line up and print onto it through the printer. So any advice on how to do my own labels would be much appreciated.
Thanks again.2016 is the year I am going to find time for me, and cherish the time I spend with my friends and family. It is also time to save - Aim £4,000 - So far this year - £230/£4,0000 -

Thank you for your reply about the inks, I've got a better idea what I need now.
I've just been over and read the money neutral thread too - my vote has gone in for you.0
