Hi
I got a small Turkey this year, 3.5, it said it serves 3-4 people... I made.....
Xmas dinner - family of 4
Boxing day - lunch sarnies x 3
Sat - Turkey dinner family of 4
Sun - Curry for me and dh, turkey and chips for the boys......
I can't believe the amount of meals I got out of it and never once felt like I was scrimping on any of them.

LOL - All these answers should go into a song -
Six Turkey sandwiches,
- Five Christmas dinners,
Four turkey curries,
Three turkey tikka's,
Two tubs of stock
and a small bag of frozen breast meat"''A moment's thinking is an hour in words.'' -Thomas Hood0 -
Ummm, not very far - as our oven gave up the ghost on Xmas day.....
However I never even got as far as putting the turkey in the oven before I realised the oven was shot (well it is 15 years old...) so to rescue the situation I cut off the breasts and drumsticks, stuck the carcass, both drumsticks and 1 breast in the freezer, ended up cooking Xmas dinner on the hob, saute potatoes & parsnips instead of roast, veggies in the steamer, bacon rolls, chipolatas and stuffing balls under the grill - end result, Xmas dinner complete in record time :j and a sane cook on Xmas day - which is definitely a first for mebut that might have been down to copious quantities of bucks fizz...;) mind you I only had 2 adults and 2 kids to cook for - god knows what I would have done if I had been expecting a houseful
Upshot is I have most of the turkey still left for another day - which is a good job as I am now looking around for a new oven so need to scrape together as much money as I can, so I think I won't need to buy any more meat for the rest of the month.
PS anyone know where I can find a good cheap oven????:oSMILE....they will wonder what you are up to...........;)0 -

Hi pretani,
I've added your thread to the current one on using up leftover turkey to keep the suggestions together.

So is it just me, really sad that I've used all my turkey?:o Wish I'd not been so sensible and bought a reasonable size, next year it's back to overcatering;)You never get a second chance to make a first impression.0 -

We had a 4kg bronze turkey - yum. It supposedly would feed six. So far, we had xmas day and boxing day dinners for 4 (and I don't do 'all the trimmings' so there was a good sized meat portion - dh had a whole leg on xmas day)plus pickings for sandwiches. There are still 3 freezer containers of meat waiting for a day when we fancy turkey. I'll not do anything fiddly with them, just warmed up in gravy - packs of cooked roast meat are my version of the ready meal. I am embarrassed to say I forgot to use the carcass, chucked it in the bin and then thought - oops, what about stock!Mortgage started on 22.5.09 : £129,600Overpayments to date: £3000June grocery challenge: 400/6000
