Good point! however wouldn't eating it help me lose weight even more?!:p:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
I'd think it would be fine - it's been wrapped and in the fridge, right?

If it looks alright, smells alright, feels alright and tastes alright when you try a bit - it most probably is alright.

Cook it up, see how it goes :)
Now if you'd been the 1st to post I probably would've done but with everyone saying no....I don't think I should risk it, unless something goes really bad in work and I want a day off tomorrow:rotfl:

Hmmm anyone got any recipes using tinned sardines?! Think thats all we've got in cupboards and I really cba'd going shopping tonight:o

Hi everyone, fairly new to this part of the forum but was hoping for some advice please.

I have defrosted a 4.7kg turkey and was hoping to do all manor of things with it such as curry, casserole etc but thats where my imagination stops.

I have recently acquired a slow cooker and have quite a few of the store cupboard bits in including a bag of broth mix that I thought would come in handy for something. I am basically after inspiration for recipes I can make and freeze.

    Thanks in advance

    Hi bravobeastie,

I would roast it first (I have used this recipe) and get at least one roast meal out of it and possibly freeze enough meat (in gravy) for another 'ready meal'. Then use the leftovers to make any amount of things: turkey fried rice, turkey casserole, turkey curry, turkey pie, turkey pancakes, use the meat to make pasta bakes/sauces etc and don't forget to use the carcass to make stock for soup that will be delicious with your broth mix and some leeks, carrots, parsley.

This thread has lots more ideas:

I'll add your thread to that one later to keep the suggestions together.

Thank you for the link to the thread. So far, I have a turkey casseroley type thing cooking in the slow cooker, have made a turkey korma, a turkey chasseur and have broth mix soaking ready to do put in the slow cooker tomorrow.

I gave up after that and am using the other half (yes it was that big) roasting in the oven.

If you have any of the roast turkey left over (and it sounds like you might! :)), I can strongly recommend Jamie Oliver's turkey and leek pie. Someone on this thread suggested it to me a while ago to use up leftover roast chicken, and it's gorgeous - even better than my mum's chicken pie (although I've never told her that :o).

You can use the bones left from the roast turkey to make more soup, too - I make it my mum's way, with carrot, onion and potato, and that has yet to be beaten, imo.

That sounds wonderful and might well attempt that tomorrow. I don't have any bones to make the soup though as the whole thing was a breast
