I'm 31 (30 when I started the mortgage) and I'm determined to pay it off by the time I'm 50 (5 years early), stretch target is 10 years early0

I got my mortgage at the age of 18! now 24 OH is nearly 30.
Intend to rent our house and move at some point in the next year, but lets see how things work out.0 -
I'm 33 and if everything goes to plan my mortgage will be paid off when I'm 36, OH 38.
We have a 3 bed detached house so hopefully won't need to upgrade again. Instead we plan to build an extra bedroom over the garage but will save up for this, no more borrowing ever again hopefully. Luckily we have a tracker mortgage so our rate is just going down and down at the moment and as long as we both keep jobs, we can keep paying overpayments to this mortgage. It's like a ball and chain and I can't wait to get rid of it.0 -
27, would like to paid off by the time I'm 30, but realistically it may be 31. If we haven't bought a nice big house by then!0

We're 28, looking on track to be mortgage free by the time we're 36/37 ish.
I'm all for clearing down debts as quickly as possible, but not at the expense of enjoying life! Spending 20k on getting married this year, and have spent 11k on a new car in the last 6 months. No loans / debts other than the mortgage.
Yeah, this could all be thrown at clearing mortgages, but having no mortgage isnt the be all and end all.. I could be dead before i'm 37!0 -
Just turned 35 and i have 200k left to pay on my mortgage - about 22 yrs i think. Going to try to start overpaying by about £100 a month to help reduce the amount although i am on repayment mortgage and have two ISA's which aren't worth stopping and cashing in at the moment as they have almost halfed in value. I have cleared almost all my other debts though apart from 4k on my car loan which i was going to clear with my ISA before things went belly up.
Getting a little jealous reading that the majority of you hope to be mortgage free by 40!!

I'm 30 and DH will be 32 next week (need to check the date- really unsure what the date is today!).
Our mortgage will be cleared 22/11/2012 depending on the rate we get when we remortgage. We will be completely debt free by 22/7/2013. I will be 35 and DH will be 36.
I know it will be sooner than my snowball says because I use the council tax and water rate free months to overpay extra and I get my cashback from my Egg card in March. That too goes to overpay.
Don't know if we will ever move- depends what is around later in life. What we've got will do us for now and for the forseeable future.Debt: 16/04/2007:TOTAL DEBT [strike]£92727.75[/strike] £49395.47:eek:   £43332.28 repaid 100.77% of £43000 target.MFiT T2: Debt [STRIKE]£52856.59[/STRIKE] £6316.14 £46540.45 repaid 101.17% of £46000 target.2013 Target: completely clear my [STRIKE]£6316.14[/STRIKE] £0 mortgage debt. £6316.14 100% repaid.0 -
Hi,
I'm 55 and my DH is 54. we have a 21,000 morgage left which we will, hopefully, pay off by this time next year. It has 2 years without over payments. This is our forever house, unless we downsize, and we have no other debts to pay off.
