I got to pay mine off last year as my 50th birthday present to myself:D . Will be moving as soon as possible to a larger house, but the extra funding will come from selling the house my mother left me so should be able to stay mortgage free.

  • I'm 29 with 30 years of mortgage left (took £145k/32yr initially) it was my first place and I plan to clear this before I'm 40 (ambitious!).

I would like to get the forever home, use rental of the flat and salary to clear the 2nd mortgage and finish mortgage/top-up savings by selling the flat near the end of the process.

    Ah dreams!

I am 40 and my husband is 45, our mortgage is currently £58,000 with 14 years to run. I am trying to overpay as much as I can and I want to be mortgage free in three years when my youngest child starts nursery school and I can go part time, so will have no childcare to pay for, which costs more than the mortgage.

Unfortunately in a fixed deal at 6.85% but you live and learn.

Hoping & praying that I'll be 30, OH will be 36, for our present mortgage anyway. Depending on the way house prices in our desired area move over the next few years we may move house & up the mortgage. Currently owing £84k, would realistically become about £150k if we move [if house prices drop a little] :)
