do you work for the FSCS PR department?
this is exactly the kind of quality i would expect them to produce
....while monkeydog's post does indeed look like a PR exercise for the FSCS, it's actually 100% true. If the truth makes them appear great, then......
One final time, and then I'm out of here. No-one had a right to expect anything from the FSCS until Iceland had sorted out the passport scheme, handed over the remainder to the FSCS, and then it could have legitimately taken another 6 months - maybe a 12 month wait in total. The FSCS will have everyone paid out within 2 months from default to finish. How anyone can complain at that astounds me.
Nilrem (post #73) ; We're ALL being paid months early. Just that some are a couple of weeks earlier than others. Small beer! Crikey, you're miserable now.. how would you have been if you'd needed to go to the passport scheme. Think about it!!0 -
I haven’t had my second e-mail yet……… got my first one last Friday, so I suppose I shouldn’t be surprised not to be amongst the lucky early receivers. I’m truly doing my best to be stiff-upper-lip-ish about it but, as we all know, logic has no place in human emotion, so every now and again I do feel like shouting ‘get a-****ing move on, you ****ers’ (most unladylike, I know).
I also think people who have received their second e-mail have no place on this particular thread. It’s for those who are wallowing in misery and we really don’t want little rays of sunshine, telling us how all’s for the best in the best of all possible worlds. I personally think these posts are from the IT wing of the FSCS and that in actual fact, NOBODY has really received them.0 -
Well they do have a right to contribute, however I keep wondering why they have to keep compounding our misery , when we dare to suggest that they are happy and think the FSCS are wonderful because they have their 2nd emails and released cash we are sneered at and made fun off but which ever way one looks at it someone who has been paid early is bound to be biased in favour of the FSCS how could they not be, I am quite sure that had I had my cash I would be biased too but one thing I would not do is keep posting messages making fun and in some cases quite abusive comments to those still waiting.
i am not saying they do not have a right to contribute, i am asking WHY they are doing so
if i had been reimbursed already, i would not be singing the praises of the FSCS
at most i would acknowledge that they had done what they were paid to do, albeit in a highly unprofessional manner, and that the whole matter was handled disasterously
i would not be spending my day on forums insulting and misleading those with outstanding claims0 -
in_the_cold wrote: »i really don't get it - the FSCS is not doing a great job
the FSCS is doing something as opposed to nothing which falls far short of doing a great job
the FSCS is attempting to do what it is funded to do but due to lack of experience and effort is not getting there
FSCS is staggering payments for the benefit of the FSCS and the Treasury
if i had received payment by now, i would not be espousing the virtues of the FSCS, i would see the clear inequitable treatment of some savers which is the reality
i am also amazed that greater concern is not being expressed by the demand made od savers to waive rights to make a claim from landsbanki
it seems that a lot of people are living on another planet and seeing things through rose tinted glasses
The problem here is that some people are just never satisfied with their current situation and always want more. Not just this issue in particular but everything.
Nilrem would never have called this process unfair if he/she had been at the front of the queue. How quickly all these moaners forgot how it could have gone.......
1. Everyone is coining it in on the back of an overheated financially based economy and has made a killing by flogging a house or two at stupidly inflated prices but hasn't actually done anything or made anything,
2. Everyone chases the best interest rate for their savings. Oooh Iceland looks good 6%, 7% 8%, I'll have some of that. Passport Scheme? What's that? Nothing to worry about, what could possibly go wrong?
3. After months of warnings, Iceland finally goes t*ts up and everyones' deposits go down the toilet.
4. Now what we all, by the letter of the agreement we entered into, should at that point have done is written to somebody in Iceland to ask for the first 20k Euros of our deposits.
5. After a bit of to-ing and fro-ing (and it probably would be Christmas by now) and a few letters smelling vaguely of fish, we might, just might, have got 20k Euro from Iceland somehow.
6. January 2009: We write off to the FSCS for the rest of our deposits and they take a while to satisfy themselves that, yes, the money grabbing Icelanders have fulfilled their obligations to us for our 20k Euro. They then pay out the rest up to the well publicised 50k limit. Happy Easter.
7. Anyone with more than 50k in Icesave wishes they'd heeded the warnings as they have just lost a bucket load of cash.
That's easily how it could have gone. People that are whinging and moaning about being at the back of the queue and bleating about lost interest and about how it's so unfair should get a grip. I'm still waiting for my second e-mail and have 35k in there. Anytime between now and the beginning of December is fine with me and I'm delighted for those how have their cash already. Good on you.
By this process (and at the extreme), somebody who has say 200k in Icesave will have got 200k back within 2 months thanks to the FSCS vs. 20k Euros in 3 months and GBP34k in another three months and swallowed a loss of GBP150k by doing it by the book.
People below the limit will get theie money back at least 3 months sooner than they otherwise would thanks to the FSCS.
I really don't understand the problem.0 -

Of course not! We ALL know that. Why would he (I think he's a he), the problem is, I and I'm sure a good few others, are all wasting our time on these boards, when we're not checking our e-mails. We want to get up off our butts and get on with our lives, but for the moment we are in limbo. We all know logically we will get our loot in the end, but the process is agonizing (yes, yes, not for those who have got it all sorted, I know).0 -

See my post #78 above. Why don't you volounteer yourself for the Passport Scheme and letter based FSCS process if the current one is so unpaletable for you?0
