Chameleon, sorry to hear about your son. I own a small business and thankfully we are holding up pretty well at the moment (touches wood and crosses fingers) but I dread the day when I have to let one of my staff go. Hopefully it won't come to that.
And Streetperson, I don't know what you could say to the youngster who has lost her (I assume her) dad. She's lucky to have good friends to stand by her.0 -
yes it is....my son tried to take his own life last year, but thankfully wasnt sucessfull, howvere it was a very upsetting time.......................
It just gets worse, we have bad things happen to us but we never imagine how much more other people have to suffer.
You must have been mortified at the time!:o0 -
Sorry if I've put a dampener on the mood, it wasn't my intention
As someone said earlier, often humour is the best way of dealing with things when in a crisis, and it's something I certainly do often, so please feel free to carry on with the jokes and whatnot“You can please some of the people some of the time, all of the people some of the time, some of the people all of the time, but you can never please all of the people all of the time.”0 -

Well if it's any consolation to you small businesses often fare a lot better than the big ones in time of financial hardships, especially if they are well run, if one can suceed in times like this imagine how easy it will become during the upturn.
In fact my late grandfather started his business (a shop) during the depression in the 30's and did very well indeed, it only finish due to the fact that my dad joined the army in the 2nd world war.0 -
