I do declare, iamstupid, that that is the first 'sensible' (i.e. non jokey) comment you've made all thread. Whassup?!
I usually like to try and look on the bright side and find humour helps when things get bad, but Chameleon's post was so poignant it stopped me in my tracks. My eldest son, a graduate in aerospace engineering, who has worked for Rolls Royce for the past 7 years, contacted me last night saying that 2,000 were losing their jobs. It's the youngsters I feel so sorry for, and as caring parent I deeply feel their pain and anguish. In memory of Chris Hyde #8670 -
Thanks everyone :A
It's certainly come as a shock to all of us as it was totally unexpected, but I'm not sure the implications have yet sunk in for him“You can please some of the people some of the time, all of the people some of the time, some of the people all of the time, but you can never please all of the people all of the time.”0 -
Chameleon - I am really sorry to hear about your son - it is the immediacy of these things which is so scary and we do have to put things into perspective.
I have 5 19 year old girls here at the moment trying to work out what to do about a very good friend of theirs whose dad committed suicide on Monday. They are so sensible they make me ashamed at times moaning about Icesave. Some things are more important than money.0 -
Another day, another non appearance of my second e-mail. I cannot begin to describe how wearying I am finding this deeply flawed process. It's like a war of attrition and the FSCS are winning. If I were a buddhist I'd be thinking that I must have been a very bad person in a previous incarnation.
On top of this if we dare to express our feelings too much we are chastised by some for being ungrateful advised to get over it or get a life, that really helps us!
As each day goes by without the email the system gets very unfair to people not paid with respect of those that have had their cash, many of us will actually suffer a real financial disadvantage over those paid on day one not only because of lost interest in the interim but possibly interest lost over the next 3 years due to decent accounts being withdrawn before we get our cash back! Call it what you will but as each day goes it looks more and more like a lottery with our own money.
And before anybody bothers to post it Yes I know I am an "ungrateful moaning $&*$%#"0 -

That is just too awful, what a terrible waste and how heartbreaking for those left behind.0 -

I was in the RAF for twenty plus years and regardless of how !!!!!! things got, you never stopped moaning but more importantly you never stopped joking."L'enfer, c'est les autres"0 -

Oh that is so, so terrible, my heart goes to you all <hugs>
Even this puts my family's problems truly into perspective right now“You can please some of the people some of the time, all of the people some of the time, some of the people all of the time, but you can never please all of the people all of the time.”0 -
We're living in very scary times right now, something most of us will never have experienced before (unless you're old enough to have been around in the 1930's
) at least not to this extent and I fear it will get worse before it gets better
It's times like this I am so thankful for small mercies and having somewhere like this where we can all pull together and share our laughter and tears is so, so important right now.
Thank you to all of you :A“You can please some of the people some of the time, all of the people some of the time, some of the people all of the time, but you can never please all of the people all of the time.”0
