  • Made my first Pot of Gold tonight for my mum's birthday tomorrow. Will take picture and try and upload it. Pleased for my first attempt. Had got her a present but needed something else to go with it. Got some lovely little clear snack bowls in Morrisons tonight - 10 for £1. Put in a little tinsel in the bottom (just to give it a bit of bling), pound and 2 pound coins, chocolate coins, mini twix, 3 or 4 Wurthers and 3 Ferrero Rocher, and a £1 Lucky Gold scratchcard.
    If I had known then what I know now . . .

home bargins have a pack of mini twixs like you would get in the celebration boxes for 99p for anyone looking for gold sweets
  • Finally bought my scratch cards today. Went for the Lucky Gold ones at £1 each as I didn't want to spend too much more on the pots.

  • Found some star shaped, gold coloured, votive candle holders with candles marked down from £1 to 48p in Morrison's today - they are ideal for putting inside pots of gold.

Just thought I would bump this thread up as I'm sure like me, people are starting to think of these. OH wants a different theme this year so going for silver and red. . Already have a book of 1st class red stamps from the RM surveys for mum and gran, and will aim to get 2 Johnnie Walker miniatures for dad and OH as think the label is red. Any other ideas on what we can put in for these colours will be gratefully received!
