Absoluely love this idea! Just starting to think of Christmas ideas and these are top of everyones list - Including the kids!
Has anyone started looking for bits yet & recommend anywhere to start getting stuff in?
Candjsmum - You can get silver coins when the Christmas stuff starts coming out. What about mini Smirnoff vodkas? They have red labels. For the kids, what about mini chocolate Santas? Lindt sweets have red wrappers on them? Delish too!!

Thanks Natalie, great idea. Could actually put a vodka in mine and DD's pot. In fact I have 2 in my xmas box from the Boots sale. Have done gold ones for years and that is easier. Ferrero rocher, McVities gold biscuit, Lindt gold choc balls, gold pennies, and Cadburys star, along with a book of gold stamps and a scratch card. For the silver ones, I have already got the bowls, recycled back from last year, silver crepe paper which I will put through the shredder to line and a silver bow and ribbon to tie each one up. There is probably a lot of silver and red choc around at xmas, just never seen past the gold!0

I have to try the others ty for the ideas, I usually look for small containers and cover them gold or spray themChallenge 2018 - Learn by heart the Book by Wayne Morgan on Amazon - Betfair Football Trading as it helps to supplement my small income :beer:0 -
Aldi are selling 400ml cans of spray paint atm for £2.99
there are matt white and black, clear lacquer and (most importantly for this thread) metallic gold or silver.
They're suggesting they (the metallic effect) can be used for painting frames etc...as thay are suitable for spraying paperboard (?), cardboard, glass, natural stone, plaster, reed, textiles and dried flowersDon't put it DOWN; put it AWAY"I would like more sisters, that the taking out of one, might not leave such stillness" Emily DickinsonJanice 1964-2016

I brought the metallic silver from Aldi a couple of years ago-excellent paint IMHO. I use it all the time, photo frames, wicker baskets etc the list goes on. Good coverage and doesn't need an undercoat.lovin' this site!

Hi everyone,
I am doing a pot of Gold this year but as a larger gift / hamper. I am going to add the usual scratch cards, gold coins etc but am a bit stuck for larger items. I am going to add some beers with 'gold' in the name as I know there are a few of these around. I also think there is an aftershave called 'gold' but other than that, I'm a bit stuck. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.0 -
This is an amazing idea thank youTrying to save up for a deposit for a mortgage....could be a while!!

Have just decided that 'pots of gold' will make perfect place settings for Christmas day at my parents! So I will be making 5 for that - I saw these cute little reindeer sleighs http://www.bakerross.co.uk/3d-reindeer-sleigh-foam-kits but wondering if they are a bit 'young' for adults?
Might make a few for colleagues too (chief exec, direct line manager and 2/3 others).

I think the sleighs are fab, I would give them to adults.

Thanks brook_son managed to show them to my dad on the sly and he agreed they'd be suitable so going to buy a pack of 10 and do 5 for our table on Christmas day, one each for bf's parents and one each for his grandparents
that leaves a spare one which I will probably give to our housing scheme manager
