ICE SAVE - 2nd E Mail Received

FSCS have just updated their FAQs (13/11/08). From a quick read (or should that be quack read) nothing of particular interest as far as I can see.
The update is at http://www.fscs.org.uk/faq/icesave_faqs/
Good luck to all waitingMSE. Abandon hope all ye who enter here0 -
2nd email just received and compensation initiated. Phew! Huge relief to have this stage completed.
Have to congratulate the FSCS on making this process very simple to understand and implement. Let's hope it never has to be implemented again with deposits in any other bank.0 -

.....just as a little caveat to this - if you're stoozing, I'd put it in the same banks as your card providers, where possible. That way if they also go tots up then you won't owe interest on your cards. I believe they will deduct your cards debt from your savings worth.0 -
Is their a ceiling on the max you can save with that account?
Sorry to be as thick as a thick thing that's even thicker but how does that work? I would have thought such an account with a decent Fixed rate and no Max allowed would be a dream account that no one could afford not to have, with all the fixed accounts I have ever had you were not allowed to add funds once they closed the issue.how can they afford to do that?
Sadly, as the OP said the 50 Plus eSaver account was withdrawn the day after he opened his account - lucky guy.
I opened a 50 Plus eSaver in Nov 2007 and the interest for the first year only was fixed at 6.4%pa with interest added monthly on the daily balance. There were no restrictions on adding further deposits, or making withdrawals, and the max investment was £250,000.
After the first year Coventry advised me that the interest for the second year would be variable at 6.25%.
However, before the 6.25% rate was applied the BOE cut interest rates by 0.5% and Coventry quickly changed the variable rate down to 6.0%, which is where it is at present.
However, the latest BOE cut of 1.5% has still to be applied, so I'm sure I'll be getting another email soon telling me the variable second year rate has been cut to around 4.5%
The OP was very lucky getting in on the last day!!0 -

grrr, I now hate Pizza Hut, Boots, House of Fraser, Confused.com, Heinz and Odeon. All have seen fit to e-mail me instead of the FSCS. Just got to wait my turn I guess !:D"A weak currency arises from a weak economy, which in turn is the result of a weak government" - Gordon Brown 1992 -0

2nd email received at 16.04 today. Fantastic I couldn't believe my eyes!
Have logged on and initiated transfers of both my instant access and fixed rate accounts (fixed rate due to mature in 10 days anyway). Very easy process and what a huge relief after weeks of Icelandic worries with having had both Kaupthing Edge and Icesave accounts. Now we can spend some money!!
Good luck to others, just be patient and keep checking the email.
