    What a nasty unpleasant post.

If you read the posts carefully I think that you will find that most people are very grateful to the government for ensuring that their savings are safe. In addition, most on here are not "complaining" about lack of interest since Icesave went down. The point that is being made is that the random nature of the repayment process could mean a large financial penalty for those who are paid out last compared to those paid first due to lack of interest and also changing availability of fixed rate deals.

You seem to suggest that people should feel guilty about having saved for their retirement - why?

Fact is some out there are complaining (not forum specific) about loss of interest and the reallity is that anyone with more than the covered amount should have been burned, not bailed out.

If you go on who wants to be a millionaire and set your sites high and take a risk on a question....you can fall, at the end of the day people with the likes of 250k knew there was a risk regardless of the likelihood of it but were willing to take their chances......mainly due to utter greed

  • Does anyone if it will be alright to put the icesave isa money into a variable savings account, whilst we wait for the certificate to be posted?

You have until 5th April 09 to put it back into an ISA product so stick it in the highest paying savings account you can for the time being ;)

I don't see why not. As long as you reinvest in an ISA by April next year then there is no problem with the taxman. :D

How many times must you greedy idiots be told. You've NOT LOST any money (the government made sure of that) you've just NOT GAINED anything.

Oh woe is you, you have so much cash you're worried about living off the interest. Suck it up, be grateful you're getting the whole lot back and shut up. You really are low lifes complaining you've not made a profit out of an economy collapsing.

    ungrateful, greedy *******s

    Dear randomnut

Congratulations on such a calm, humourous and eloquent response.

Just one point, and I do apologise for being pedantic, ungrateful greedy savers has only got ***** not seven. ;)

  • Just received 2nd email (for my husband!) - no sign of mine yet.
  • My 1st email received nearly midnight 4th. Typical AOL I thought as their mails often delayed. No sign of 2nd.

Not panicking or worried but am not convinced random payouts best way. Makes it impossible to plan ahead for reinvesting and since rate cut this has become quite crucial.
