Got my 2nd e-mail yesterday afternoon. 1st mail 4th Nov. Wife got 1st e-mail 4th Nov as well, but no second as yet.
Haven't had chance to do the transfer yet, will try tonight.0 -
Something strange seems here anyway.
From the general numbers on this site, I assume about 5-10% of all Icesave customers come around this site regularly.
If we have 220.000 customers to be emailed in 20 days, it means around 11.000 a day. This means we should have 550-1100 moneysavingexpert users a day reporting to have had their second email. It looks to me more like 5!
This might mean that they are starting with batches of lower size, to grow progressively while they have tested a bit more the reliability of the system.
So, if this is true, most of the users will be served later on (probably in the second-third week).0 -
IMHO that is a pretty accurate summing up of the situation, as you say we are grateful but are annoyed that we have to endure all this waiting and losing interest, it almost feels as though we are getting a prize yet really we are just getting back what is owed to us, most of us have never experienced this sort of thing before and have been placed in this position through no fault of our own.
We hear of others getting their money back and we sit watching for an email in vain and it feels that it will never come.
paitence is a virtue --- just be glad and happy that we are getting our money back -never mind the loss of interest from 7th oct and that only.
This is a major exercise for the FSCS and to be honest it is only 5 weeks ago since went "bust" it has gone fairly quick in my view.0 -
Help. I haven't received my first email yet. Phoned FSCA who suggested that I contact my internet provider as they may be blocking them. My provider is Prodigy Networks who just don't answer their phone. Any suggestions as to what my next step should be. (This is my first post so apologies if I have put it in the wrong place.)0

I too have been thinking about this and wonder how this system works.
For example say for arguments sake they send out a batch of 500 emails an hour (it may well be more, I have no idea) now quite a few of those recipients will be at work with no access to an email facility or even able to log on and transfer their funds, at the same time there are lots of us at home who have not received their email who would be able to log very quickly and use up that spare capacity, but of course we can't and it means the process will take longer whereas after tea when people come home and find their emails they will all be logging on at once.
It would be interesting if someone who understands how they do these things could explain how it works?
There are probably quite a few of us at home waiting to pounce and the site may be quiet ATM because of what I suggest above yet we can't do anything about it!0 -

Log onto your Icesave account and check if you have an initiate button, that will confirm that they know about you and that it is just the 1st email you are missing.
If you haven't had the 1st email ( it says nowt anyway) it means that either your Isp has blocked it as spam or your email package/software has, have you looked in the spam or junk mail folder?
What Isp do you use, a few have had problems of blocking the email.
Edit, just noticed who your isp is.0 -

Yes, this is something I thought about a while back. Whilst it's all well and good sending out the emails in batches they have absolutely no control over when people actually log in to transfer their money so makes it almost a moot point that if everyone were to log on together it would crash the system
Still not received mine and getting more frustrated by the hour!
:EasterBun
ETA: Unless of course, once you recieve the 2nd email you only hjave a limited window of opportunity in which to "initiate" your account and they will only release the next batch once everyone has done that
In that case - will everyone who has received their 2nd email get a bloody move on and initiate your accounts please!
Yes, that includes you nobblyned!!!!
