Interesting summary of the "spamming" debacle:-

Is there anything to stop you initiating the claim before you get the 2nd email? When I log into my account there is a link next to my account to initiate the fcsc claim? Anyone tried it ?
Yes, Matthew, a couple of times now, but with no success. It just tells that if you can't see any details below then you have to wait for your second email.
Someone yesterday did 'press the button' and hit the jackpot, so we all thought Hooray, there's a flaw in the system, but in fact he received his 2nd email soon after.
I see no harm in trying it every so often - when the frustration gets too much to bear! - and would recommend it for those who fear their emails are being ditched as spam before they are received (as has been suggested many times by others)0 -

I can confirm this, the above is not quite accurate because I am still here after trying it yesterday, however I have noticed a lot of long hair starting to sprout from the palms of my hands and I start to howl when the moon is shining!:eek:0 -
I agree with the above but I would ask people not to keep on trying, perhaps try it once a day if you are concerned that you might not be receiving your emails, however if everyone starts to log in to their account every few mins to check it may well put a strain on the system and hence slow up the process for accounts that have been enabled.:)I see no harm in trying it every so often - when the frustration gets too much to bear! - and would recommend it for those who fear their emails are being ditched as spam before they are received (as has been suggested many times by others)0 -

Typical bad reporting:
"A second email is expected to be sent to all Icesave depositors later this week."

Sadly, it is compensation, you lost your money when Icesave went bust.
Actually I am not sure about this, at the time it was reported that the UK Government impounded around £4billion of Landsbanki's assets in the UK? And was not the amount held by domestic UK savers in Icesave around that amount?
Don't forget that Landsbanki are still operating in Iceland and it's customers there are still using the facilities as normal, they just stopped us withdrawing our money on or around Oct 7th.0 -

I don't think the assets they froze were intended to fund any part of the compensation process for retail depositors. It was done to protect the interests of wholesale creditors i.e local authorities, etc.The Government also took action yesterday, by freezing the UK assets of Landsbanki, to help ensure that UK wholesale creditors of Landsbanki are treated fairly.

Well having started this thread I can report that I still do not have my money. Not even the compensation from my DD when I had to bail her out even though she has reclaimed hers. Will try to get hold of her at uni and find out if it has hit her bank account yet and will post when it does.0
