Moreover this is a VENT board where we are allowed to get things off our chest. I don't believe, however, that it encompasses rudeness.

Those are all fine cuts of meat that should not be sniffed at (pun intended). We should encourage children to have an encompassing diet and not tout veganism to them. Using punctuation and vocabulary correctly is also to be recommended.

I am still upset that they no longer sell their peculiar rolls.

    Rollocks should we!

Encouraging children to eat mushed up & fried tripe served in pastry is not healthy by anyone's standards. They are about as fine cuts of meat as your backside (and I wouldn't want that in a bap either thanks)

    Eh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
what fish? and could someone tell me what serendipitously means.

things happening at the right time...

People go fishing in threads to see if they get a bite ... to see if someone reacts. (And in real life too BTW) There is a saying that something which is easy to do is like shooting fish in a barrel. For a guess probably to do with sea fishing when they used to fill barrels with freshly caught fish - the barrel is full and the shooter would not be able to miss. As I say though I am guessing at the origin of that saying.

    Feel better?

Oooh walker, bet your dead rough!!!

I'm a wallsend lassie myself so it's more gosfath, my mams from walker, but the flats she lived in are long gone and I lived there for a bit too about 10 years ago, walker rd, right opposite ken hornsby's newsagent, you would not recognise the place now, they have started pulling it all down. It won't be missed though it really had lost the community spirt my mam used to remember.

When ever someone in our family dies, I have to go straight to my mams via greggs to get stotties, then best ham, peas pudding and marks and spencer for the bertroot (only M&S for a death), no matter how close or distant the relative, everyone has to drink too much tea and eats the stotties, it tradition.

Music to my ears, i used to know Ken Hornby, his mam I think was Lena and dad (Jim), There was also a Sister called Florrie, had a shop further up the road, opposite the Stack. Your mam will remember the Stack and the Corporation, (Sorry, not meaning she was a regular visitor, :rotfl: How would i know:rotfl: Ken was a young lad then and opened the shop as he got older. Ken had an older brother who i think was called Brian who was killed in the isle of Man TT races but thats going back to the middle sixties. I lived in Bernard Street, virtually inbetween the two shops. I probably knew your mam.
Yeh, lots of my family there too so i know about the food tradition at funerals
Been back a few times for them. Nice to 'talk' to you, all the best

And come to think of it (and get back on track) on my way to work I pass various 'convenience' stores and see teenagers standing around outside munching on a variety of comestibles. Never seen one of them eating fruit...
They are storing up problems for later life here...
