Southern Electric/Gas are offering ENERGY CARE not sure of the full details as they are going to call me back, I am pretty sure it's the same critera as British Gas, what Southern Gas/Electric do from the brief info I got from the lady is reduce you rates and don't charge any standing charges, but she was not to sure of the full details either.
If anyone needs the number for Southern Electric/Gas it's 0845 7444555.
As soon as I get my call back I will update you, unless anyone else knows before.0 -
Thanks for that Jenny! Just saved my mum £40, my auntie £40 and a friend £40!
YAY!Everyone has a photographic memory, it's just some of them don't have film.0 -
Right call me cynical, or maybe just cautious, but a couple of questions.
Firstly what are the terms and conditions? - can't find them anywhere. Ruthless corporate barstards like BG rarely give money away without attaching clauses. Why no details? Via a Google search the only BG web page found with that telephone number is this one;
http://www.britishgasnews.co.uk/index.asp?PageID=16&Year=2004&NewsID=639
and that's for fixed price "Warm Fix" schemes.
Why is it such a rush? it's a deadline two days away. Most of the mentions on the www are from the last week, has anyone got anything like a press release from BG?Joe

My wife and I are both on benefits which are included in the list given earlier. We are on LPG - no mains gas here. Unfortunately, a while ago British Gas sold their LPG Division to Flow Gas. I've tried the 0845 number but continuously get the 'we're all busy - leave a message and we'll call you' bit - doubt it will happen.
We also have British Gas Maintenance and Emergency repair contract for the central heating and hot water system.
I wonder:
1. could my wife and I both claim the benefit assuming that
2. we can qualify for the rebate with Flow Gas or from British Gas by virtue of the maint contract.
Anybody any idea?Waddle you do eh?0 -
I am with eqipower so is too late to switch to BG today or tomorrow to make use of this offer?0

If you are on incapacity benefit, none of the above handouts apply, yet you are unable to have an income that comes anywhere near the thresholds applied to other benefit claimants. To rub in salt, many benefits on the list are given to those who already receive other benefits on the list too. Incapacity benefit excludes you from them all!
Fran and Jenny,am I missing something here, besides the trickle down money, or is there an injustice being perpetrated in the name of politics.
I was on Incapacity Benefit and was also getting Council tax benefit too only a few months ago. Have you tried applying for Council Tax Benefit?0 -

Well my relative was told she must understand that to get the £60 she could not switch for a certain time, not sure how long for though. I couldn't claim it as I'm with Southern Electric but I've enquired about thier Energy Care thing.
To be honest I didn't switch when everyone was switching a while back, I did go and see what the switch sites came up with but there didn't seem much difference apart from most were more money, I think one was about the same and I've always been ok with Southern Electric/Gas so I decided to stay. British Gas are one of the most expensive and in my experience terrible customer service. I did think when I heard about the £60 offer though if it was worth switching to them to get the £60 but realistically b/g were more money so overall its not worth it plus all the hassle of a crap service.
I'll see what comes out of this energy care thing from southern but I wont swap anywayThanx
